A knee brace bracket for use in a knee bracing system for tilt-up panel constructions. The knee brace bracket includes front and rear face members defining circular structures for extending around a main pipe brace which extends between a panel and a floor slab. The knee brace bracket is rigidly connected to a knee brace extending to a connection point on the panel. The knee brace bracket includes a plurality of rollers engaged with the main pipe brace whereby the main pipe brace is permitted to rotate within the knee brace bracket to permit a screw adjustment for the length of the main pipe brace.

A strongback attachment system for temporarily attaching a reinforcing beam or the like to a poured concrete structural member includes an insert adapted to be set in the poured concrete member. The insert has a body for creating a void in the concrete structural member and a base for supporting the body in spaced relation above a floor of the concrete structural member. The base has a pair of leg members in which a portion thereof extends through the body so as to be free of concrete. A bolt is also provided for securing the reinforcing beam to the concrete structural member, where the bolt includes a shaft with a threaded end and an opposite end terminating in an engagement head. The engagement head is adapted to be releasably engaged by the leg member portions extending through the body. The leg member portions extending through the body of the insert are substantially parallel and the engagement head is configured to pass between the leg member portions when oriented in a first position and to become retained by the leg member portions when oriented in a second position. The strongback attachment system also includes a spring biased portion on the bolt adjacent the engagement head to bias the bolt away from the leg member portions and thereby promote the retention of the engagement head by the leg member portions.

A recess plug for positioning lifting anchors in precast concrete panel includes first and second hollow plug halves having complementary, frictionally-engaging mating surfaces, and also having pairs of projecting bosses positioned to overlap, when the plug halves are joined together, such that holes therethrough are in registry to receive nails therethrough for locking the plug halves together in enclosing relation with the head of an anchor as they are mounted on a vertical formwork wall. The plug halves also include boss portions for attaching a reinforcing bar to the plug assembly so that the reinforcing bar is properly positioned relative to the anchor held by the recess plug to bear the stresses applied to the anchor when the panel is lifted by the anchor. Each plug half includes a rear wall having a notch which forms an opening with the notch in the mating plug half sized to receive the shank of an anchor therethrough. The interior of each plug half is hollow and includes a pair of webs spaced apart to receive the shank of an anchor and including cutouts to receive an anchor head. The cutouts, webs and opening enable the recess plug to hold a lifting anchor firmly in cantilevered relation to the form wall on which the plug assembly is mounted without movement of the anchor relative to the plug during formwork set-up and concrete pouring of the precast concrete panel. Then after the formwork is dismantled, the plug is torn away to expose the anchor head for tilt-up use.

An apparatus for lifting precast concrete panels includes a lifting body having a forward portion adapted to engage in an anchor head, a latch yoke pivotally connected to a rearward end of the lifting body and including a safety latch cooperating with the forward portion to lock an anchor head to the forward portion, a release yoke pivotally attached to the lifting body and including a cam roller for urging the latch yoke to pivot to a release position, and a lifting bail pivotally attached to the forward portion. The lifting body includes a safety pin block extending upwardly from a rearward portion thereof adjacent to the rearward end of the latch yoke. The latch yoke and safety pin block include bores which are in registry with each other when the apparatus is oriented to a locked position. A safety pin is inserted into the bores and prevents relative pivotal movement between the latch yoke and lifting body, and is removable from the bore by a lanyard which is pulled by a worker. '

Apparatus for lifting concrete panels

A pickup unit for releasable connection to an anchor insert embedded in a body, such insert having an exposed head portion and a reduced shank portion extending from the head portion and into the body, includes a connecting member rotatable adjacent to the insert head portion, such connecting member having a recess of the bayonet slot type receiving the insert head portion captive within the connecting member while the insert shank portion extends outwardly therefrom upon relative rotation between the connecting member and the insert in one direction, and such connecting member releasing the insert head portion upon such relative rotation in the opposite direction, a latch mounted for in and out movement relative to the recess for respectively preventing and permitting relative movement of the insert head portion out of the recess, a lever movably connected to the connecting member, structure for coupling the lever and the latch, and structure for engaging the lever with such body, whereby a force may be applied to the lever for moving the same relative to the connecting member, thereby to cooperatively move the latch outwardly relative to the recess and rotate the connecting member for releasing the pickup unit from the insert.
