The invention is a device for providing a clamping force about a connection end of elastomeric hose or tubing. The device includes an at-least-twice-oriented polymer having a shrinkage response to each of at least two diameter reducing release temperatures, which is sized and formed into a band. The clamp is self-adjusting over a substantial working life. The band may be installed onto connection ends of hose or tubing and fixtures such as couplings, inserts or stems without the external application of heat, preferably preselecting the first diameter reducing release temperature to be at roughly room temperature. The clamp displays improved constrictive forces over prior art polymer clamps.

A flat type power transmission belt with an embedded tensile member of first and second plies of yarns where a first layer of yarns is disposed at a first helical angle and a second layer of yarns is disposed at an opposite helical angle. A method for making flat belts by making a sleeve and embedding a tensile member therein by winding a first plurality of yarns at a first helical angle and then winding a second plurality of yarns in a second layer at an opposite helical angle.

Hose coupling ferrule and process

A deformable ferrule for use in coupling hose which has a sidewall portion that decreases in thickness going longitudinally of the ferrule from a fitting end to a hose end. A method of deforming an exterior frustro-conical surface portion of the ferrule to a generally cylindrical shape while simultaneously forming an inside surface portion of the ferrule to a generally frustro-conical shape.

A sporadical torque transfer device for yielding element flexible shaft couplings of the tubular type, the device including first and second sleeves which have a ring of internal spline teeth at one end and circumferentially spaced jaw teeth at the opposite end, the first and second sleeves arranged substantially coaxial so that the jaw teeth mesh with each other in jaw coupling fashion, and a third sleeve that fits within the first and second sleeve juxtaposed the jaw teeth as a means for coaxially aligning the first and second sleeves.

Torque transfer device for flexible shaft couplings

A ferrule for use with a male stem which together define a coupling for flexible hose, the ferrule including a sleeve having an inside surface from which extend a plurality of longitudinally oriented ribs that are circumferentially spaced from each other. The ferrule is preferably made by extruding a metal tube and forming a plurality of longitudinal ribs, circumferentially spaced from each other along thetube inside surface; and cutting the tube in desired lengths to define ferrules.

A sporadical torque transfer device for yielding element flexible shaft couplings of the tubular type, the device including two shaft end portions, each with two forked ends of two opposed symmetrical teeth having flanks, the teeth overlapping each other in meshing fashion with nominally a positive clearance between tooth flanks, the teeth centrosymmetric with the tubular element and positioned intermediate ends of the tubular element. Optionally, a sleeve has a diametrically oriented member attached to each of its ends and positioned ninety degrees from each other. Together, the cross members and sleeve define tooth receiving openings. The sleeve is positioned substantially coaxially with the shaft portions and the opposed teeth are positioned in the tooth receiving openings of the sleeve and cross members with positive clearance nominally maintained between the tooth flanks and cross members.

A female coupling adapted for use with prior art male stems of the collared type, the coupling having a stem-receiving bore and two substantially parallel slots that intersect circumference portions of the bore. Two leg members of a generally U-shaped staple are inserted in and reciprocally movable in the coupling slots. Leg members have facing, substantially centrosymmetrical slots that open with the intersecting circumference portions of the bore when the staple is in the open and unlocked position. Locking tab portions of the leg members intersect the bore at the intersecting circumference portions when the leg members are reciprocated to a lock position and a spring means interconnecting the leg members retain free ends of the leg members against the coupling.

A centering device for tubularly shaped flexible element couplings that includes a ball retained in a socket and a pin extending through an aperture of the ball, the pin having stop means which allows axial pin movement but prevents the pin from extracting from the ball aperture.
