An apparatus such as a vehicle having a generator. The apparatus includes a rotational shaft having a longitudinal axis, a stator having a core and windings disposed on the core, and a rotor coupled to the shaft. The core includes first and second surfaces at least partially surrounding the longitudinal axis. A portion of the first inner surface is disposed a first radial distance from the longitudinal axis, and a portion of the second inner surface is disposed a second radial distance from the longitudinal axis. The second radial distance is greater than the first radial distance.

Apparatus having an electrical machine

A vehicle including a plurality of wheels, an internal combustion engine having a drive shaft interconnected to drive at least one of the wheels, a stator having a core disposed next to the engine and a plurality of wires disposed on the core in a three phase winding arrangement, and a flywheel-rotor apparatus surrounding at least a portion of the stator and having an aperture that receives the drive shaft. The flywheel-rotor apparatus is operable to magnetically interact with the stator to produce a three-phase alternating current in the wires, and provides an inertia to the internal combustion engine. The vehicle further includes power circuitry electrically connected to the wires. The power circuitry receives the three-phase alternating current and controllably generates a single-phase alternating current.

Vehicle including a three-phase generator

A small-engine vehicle including a plurality of wheels, an internal combustion engine having a drive shaft interconnected to drive at least one of the wheels, and a generator. The generator includes a stator having a core disposed next to the engine and a winding disposed on the core. The generator further includes a flywheel-rotor apparatus surrounding at least a portion of the stator and having an aperture that receives the drive shaft. The flywheel-rotor apparatus is operable to magnetically interact with the stator to produce a first high-voltage, alternating-current signal in the winding, and to provide an inertia to the internal combustion engine. The generator further includes power circuitry electrically connected to the winding. The power circuitry receives the high-voltage, alternating-current signal and controllably generates a second high-voltage, alternating-current signal.

Small engine vehicle including a generator

The invention provides a stator for a three-phase induction motor including a core having a plurality of slots that receives wire. The stator further includes a first phase winding wound on the stator having first and second wires electrically connected in parallel. The first wire forms a first group of coils having a first pattern and the second wire forms a second group of coils having a second pattern different than the first pattern. The invention further provides a winding method for the stator.

Stator for an electric motor/generator with a half-integer winding

The invention provides a bridge assembly for a three-phase motor. The assembly includes a first subassembly having a first terminal plate, a second subassembly having a second terminal plate, a third subassembly having a third terminal plate and a fourth subassembly having a bus terminal plate. Each of the terminal plates is electrically isolated from the other terminal plates, and at least one of the first, second, third and bus terminal plates acts as a heat sink. The assembly further includes first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth switching devices interconnected to at least one of the terminal plates. Each switching device has a heat generating surface in thermal communication with one of the first, second, third and bus terminal plates. The assembly further includes a fifth subassembly interconnected with the first, second, third, and fourth subassemblies.

Three-phase H-bridge assembly and method of assembling the same

A flywheel-rotor apparatus that transforms electrical power into mechanical power and mechanical power into electrical power through a unitary device is disclosed. The invention includes an inner portion and an outer portion which are made of an electrically conductive material, such as aluminum or an aluminum alloy, for example. An air channel or gap separates at least part of the inner from the outer portions and a stator is positioned radially inward from the inner portion. At least one electric current path in the inner portion enables electric charge flow when the stator magnetically interacts with the inner portion. A magnet for a magneto ignition system may also be included in the apparatus to produce current for distribution to the spark plugs.

Flywheel-rotor apparatus

A new vehicle anti-theft system for preventing theft of motor vehicles. The inventive device includes a module which is mounted within the vehicle's dashboard and which is connected to the vehicle's electrical power system and the vehicle's ignition system, and an audio unit which releasably connects with the module and which includes an electrical connection associated therewith which connects the electrical power system to the ignition system when the audio unit is connected to the module thus permitting the vehicle to be started. When the audio unit is disconnected from the module, the electrical power system and the ignition system are disconnected which prevents the vehicle from being started until the audio unit is again connected to the module.
