In accordance with one aspect of the invention, injectable particles are provided which comprise (a) a first group of injectable particles comprising first polymeric particles loaded with a first therapeutic agent and (b) a second group of injectable particles comprising second polymeric particles loaded with a second therapeutic agent. The first and second polymeric particles may be the same or different, and the first and second therapeutic agents may be the same or different. Other aspects of the invention pertain to methods of making such particles, to kits that comprise such particles, and to methods of treatment that employ such injectable particles.

Particles for injection and processes for forming the same

In accordance with one aspect of the invention, injectable compositions are provided, which contain temperature-sensitive hydrogel particles. The hydrogel particles may be provided in dry form, or they may be provided in hydrated form in an aqueous fluid. The temperature-sensitive hydrogel particles may have an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) below normal body temperature, they may have a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) above normal body temperature, or they may have a LCST that changes from below normal body temperature to above normal body temperature after injection into a subject.

Cross-linked polymer particles

In accordance with one aspect of the invention, novel compositions containing injectable particles are provided in which the injectable particles contain at least two polymeric components that differ in composition from one another (e.g., because at least one polymeric component contains a polymer that is not present in another polymeric component).

Multi-component particles for injection and processes for forming the same

Medical articles, such as drug-releasing patches or implantable or insertable medical devices, which are made up of a medical article substrate and a therapeutic-agent-containing region. The therapeutic-agent-containing region is made up of (i) a water-dispersible therapeutic agent and (ii) coalesced polymer particles supplied by an aqueous dispersion. Also described are methods of forming such medical articles, and methods of releasing a therapeutic agent within a patient using such medical articles.

Medical articles having therapeutic-agent-containing regions formed from coalesced polymer particles

The present invention is generally directed to medical devices, and more specifically to medical devices that are at least partially insertable or implantable into the body of a patient. The medical devices generally comprise (a) a therapeutic agent, more typically, a high-molecular-weight therapeutic agent, and (b) at least one polymeric layer, which typically acts to control the release of the therapeutic agent from the medical device. Also disclosed herein are methods of making such medical devices.

Medical devices for delivery of therapeutic agents

In various aspects, the present invention is directed to implantable neurostimulation leads and methods for their formation. In various additional aspects, the present invention is directed to medical devices having silicone-containing regions with overlying polymeric layers and to methods of forming the same.

Implantable or insertable medical devices

Implantable or insertable medical devices are described. The medical devices comprise (a) a therapeutic agent and (b) a polymeric release region, which controls the release of the therapeutic agent upon administration to a patient. The polymeric release region further comprises an acrylic copolymer, which comprises (i) a plurality of rubbery acrylic units and (ii) a plurality of hard units. Also described are methods for administering a therapeutic agent to a patient using the above implantable or insertable medical devices as well as methods of making the above devices.

Implantable or insertable medical devices containing acrylic copolymer for controlled delivery of therapeutic agent

According to an aspect of the present invention, implantable or insertable medical devices are provided, which contain one or more polymeric regions. These polymeric regions, in turn, contain one or more polymers, at least one of which is a copolymer that includes the following: (a) one or more unsaturated hydrocarbon monomer species and (b) one or more heteroatom-containing monomer species.

Medical devices having polymeric regions with copolymers containing hydrocarbon and heteroatom-containing monomeric species

Implantable or insertable medical devices are described. The medical devices comprise (a) a therapeutic agent and (b) a polymeric release region, which controls the release of the therapeutic agent upon administration to a patient. The polymeric release region further comprises a silicone copolymer that contains a plurality of siloxane units and a plurality of non-siloxane units. Also described are methods for administering a therapeutic agent to a patient using the above implantable or insertable medical devices as well as methods of making the above devices.

Implantable or insertable medical devices containing silicone copolymer for controlled delivery of therapeutic agent

The present invention relates to medical devices which contain isobutylene copolymers. The present invention also relates to biocompatible copolymer materials for therapeutic agent delivery comprising a therapeutic-agent-loaded isobutylene copolymer. According to an aspect of the present invention, a medical device is provided, which includes: (a) a substrate and (b) at least one polymeric layer, which contains a copolymer, disposed over all or a portion of the substrate. The copolymer contains one or more polymer chains, within which isobutylene and elevated Tmonomers (and, optionally, other monomers) are incorporated in a random, periodic, statistical or gradient distribution.

Medical devices and materials containing isobutylene copolymer

The present invention relates to phase separated polymeric regions and to their use in conjunction with implantable or insertable medical devices. In some aspects of the invention, phase separated polymeric regions are provided that include (a) at least one biostable polymeric phase and (b) at least one biodisintegrable polymeric phase, which is of nanoscale dimensions and which undergoes biodisintegration such that the phase separated polymeric region becomes a nanoporous polymeric region in vivo. Other aspects of the invention are directed to methods of making implantable or insertable medical devices having at least one nanoporous polymeric region. These methods include (a) providing a phase separated polymeric region comprising a stable polymeric phase and a disintegrable polymeric phase of nanoscale dimensions, (b) selectively removing the disintegrable polymeric phase thereby producing the nanoporous polymeric region. In still other aspects, implantable or insertable medical devices are provided which have phase separated polymeric regions that include (a) at least one block copolymer having at least one biostable polymer block and at least one biodisintegrable polymer block and (b) at least one therapeutic agent which is released in vivo upon implantation or insertion of the medical device.
