An antenna and method for using the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, an antenna comprises a radial waveguide; an aperture operable to radiate radio frequency (RF) signals in response to an RF feed wave fed by the radial waveguide; and a radio frequency (RF) choke operable to block RF energy from exiting through a gap between outer portions of the waveguide and the aperture.

A method of assembling an antenna aperture from a plurality of antenna aperture segments is described. The method may include placing a first aperture segment relative to a second aperture segment to partially form the antenna aperture. Furthermore, an overlap of the first aperture segment overlaps a complementary underlap of the second aperture segment at a seam. The method may also include joining the overlap of the first aperture segment to the underlap of the second aperture segment to partially form the antenna aperture.

Techniques and mechanisms for providing a low-profile terminal for satellite communication. In an embodiment, a communication terminal includes a radome, an array of radio frequency (RF) elements and a foam layer disposed therebetween. The foam layer includes a first side and a second side opposite the first side, wherein the array of RF elements and the radome are coupled to the foam layer via the first side and the second side, respectively. The communication device provides contiguous structure between the radome and the array of RF elements. In another embodiment, the first side forms a machined surface which contributes to flatness of one or more antenna panels having the array of RF elements disposed therein or thereon.

A fluid device for vehicle fuel consumption enhancement including a body defining a compressible chamber therein the body is connected to the throttle linkage to be compressed responsive to movement of the vehicle throttle in the acceleration direction, the chamber housing a fluid therein which is adapted to be expelled through a fluid bleed orifice upon compression of the chamber to control the force of movement of the vehicle throttle, the bleed being preferably variable to control the speed of movement of the vehicle throttle, the device further including a fluid return providing a means for the return of the expelled fluid back into the chamber upon the deceleration of the vehicle throttle and further including a safety valve positioned in fluid flow communication with the chamber and adapted to allow instantaneous expelling of substantially all of the fluid from the chamber responsive to a predetermined large amount of force being exerted against the vehicle throttle and thereby against the compressible chamber in order to provide an override capability in cases of emergency, the device being particularly usable in two configurations wherein one utilizes air as the fluid and has a compressible bellows as the compressible chamber wherein the other embodiment includes oil or other liquid as the fluid including a piston and fixed walled enclosure for defining the compressible chamber.

A solar or thermal gravity engine including a conduit extending substantially vertically from ground level upward into the atmosphere including a plurality of valves in the walls of the conduit at various heights from the bottom thereof, each valve being capable of opening to allow fluid flow communication between the vertical conduit and a liquid return conduit which extends downward therefrom and may include therein precipitation enhancement means such as grids or fins to allow water vapor or other liquid vapor which has evaporated in the evaporating area to condense in the condensing area when the associated valve is opened and such that the liquid will pass downwardly through the associated liquid return conduit to be gathered as a vertical column of liquid in an accumulating chamber positioned immediately above a liquid driven power generating means such as a turbine or the like, after driving the turbine the downwardly moving liquid may be collected in a return chamber for passage to the evaporation area for repetition of the cycle, a by-pass line may be included to allow passage of fluid directly from the accumulation chamber to the return chamber without passage adjacent the fluid driven turbine, a controller may be included which is responsive to the pressure and temperature of ambient or internal system pressure values or temperature values to control a valve positioned within the by-pass line or to control each valve associated with each liquid return conduit to thereby provide a system for generating energy which does not utilize consumable fuels and does not contaminate the environment.
