A power waxer is provided which includes structure for electrically connecting a power cord thereto while minimizing instances of accidental disconnection therebetween with the structure being located so as to substantially remove the power cord as an impediment to the operation and ability to exert proper control over the waxer during operation thereof. Also, there is provided structure for controlling torque output of a motor of a power waxer to selectively change the torque output for different stages of the waxing process.

Electrically-powered polisher

An electrically-powered polisher is provided which includes a central housing having a top and a bottom and a front and a back with a rotary pad mounted adjacent to the bottom of the housing. A front handle extends horizontally outwardly from the housing front substantially parallel to the top and bottom of the housing adjacent to and above the housing bottom. A rear handle extends outward from the housing rear and extends vertically between the top and bottom of the housing. A collar is defined at the top of the housing and a male receptacle, including male prongs, is mounted therein. The male receptacle is capable of being electrically connected to a female socket head of an electrical cord supplying power to the waxer. The collar is recessed in the top of the housing with the male prongs of the receptacle extending from the housing into the collar. A cord lock is provided and includes a cord receiving trough formed in the top of the housing adjacent to the collar and an overhung tab for retaining a portion of an electrical cord in the trough.

A power tool is provided which includes a shaft rotatably driven by the motor and an axial lining in the central bore of the working element. A counterweight assembly is attached to the shaft for rotation therewith. A post on the counterweight assembly is insertable in the axial lining. A detent is mounted to the post and includes arcuate cam surfaces. The detent is movable between (1) an extended position relative to the post, and (2) a depressed position relative to the post wherein the axial lining engages the cam surfaces and allows the post to be inserted in the axial lining. A circumferential groove on the axial lining is capable of capturing the detent in the extended position to provide for substantially fail-safe operation of the tool with the post inserted in the axial lining.

A power tool is provided and includes a housing having a first longitudinal axis extending therein. An output shaft is mounted in the housing along the longitudinal axis operably connected to the working element. A motor in the housing is provided for driving the output shaft. A transmission system has cooperating portions which are movable between (1) a first state wherein the cooperating portions are disengaged from each other allowing the output shaft to reciprocate, and (2) a second state wherein the cooperating portions are engaged with each other causing the output shaft to rotate. A wobble driver is mounted to the output shaft with the wobble driver having (1) a first mode wherein the wobble driver is in driving relation to the output shaft and is capable of reciprocating with the output shaft along the first longitudinal axis, and (2) a second mode when the wobble driver is in non-driving relation to the output shaft. An actuator cooperates with the wobble driver and one of the transmission system cooperating portions. The actuator is selectively movable between (1) a first position wherein the transmission cooperating portions are in their first disengaged state and the wobble driver is in its first driving mode relative to the output shaft with the wobble driver reciprocating with the output shaft along the first longitudinal axis to reciprocate the working element, and (2) a second position wherein the transmission system cooperating portions are in their engaged state and the wobble driver is in its second non-driving mode relative to the output shaft with the output shaft rotating to rotate the working element.

A motor assembly for driving a working element of a power tool which is provided includes first and second clamshell housing members connectable to define an interior space for the power tool motor and a longitudinal axis extending through the interior space. An armature includes a core and a rotatable shaft for driving a working element of the tool. The armature is mountable in the interior space with the rotatable shaft aligned along the longitudinal axis. A cylindrical stator yoke is mountable in the interior space about the longitudinal axis to encircle the armature. Top and bottom bearings are mounted on corresponding ends of the armature shaft. Alignment and support members on the first and second housing members are provided with the alignment and support members capturing and fixing the yoke and top and bottom bearings in the interior space in alignment about the longitudinal axis when the clamshell housing members are connected to each other.

A locking device for maintaining a mating connection between female and male ends of electrical cords is provided including a locking member which is a flat rigid element. Structure in the locking member is provided for receiving enlarged plug and socket heads on ends of electrical cords through the locking member. At least one slot is formed in the locking member connected to the enlarged head receiving structure with the slot being configured to substantially fix the cord receiving tension forces in a predetermined position in the slot.

A detail sander having a scraper blade of a shape that allows for different geometric configurations to be oriented into the working position to contact a work surface. Blades may also be adjusted forward or rearward relative to the leg of the sander to allow for changes in the stroke of the sweeping motion produced by the sander. A teardrop shaped blade and a triangular shaped blade having varying geometries about their respective peripheries allow for varying tip geometries to be oriented into the working position of the blade. Additionally, the blades are removable so that different blades may be attached to suit different needs.

An actuator switch (25) for an electrical power tool (10), having a housing (16) and an electric motor supported by the housing (16) for operatively driving a work implement, is provided. The actuator switch (25) includes a trigger (22) which cooperates with the housing (16) and is shiftably operable by the user between 'on' and 'off' positions. A power switch assembly (26) is oriented within the tool housing (16) adjacent the trigger (22) for actuation thereby. The power switch assembly includes a body (28) defining an internal cavity (30) with an aperture (32) extending therethrough. An electrical switch (34) is located within the switch assembly (26) and is electrically connected to the electric motor. A plunger (42) extends through the body aperture (32) to enable the trigger (22) to activate the electrical switch (34). An elastomeric pad (44) is operatively positioned between the plunger (42) and the trigger (22). The pad (44) is of sufficient size and thickness to sealingly engage the switch body (28) and to cover the aperture (32) when the trigger (22) is shifted to the 'on' position to maintain the power tool energized during normal operation, in spite of tool vibration, and to prevent dirt and debris from entering the cavity (30) of the actuator switch body (28).
