A power tool construction wherein an integrated pressure fluid motor is provided with a unitary motor cylinder and back head and an external cooperative porting surface for cooperation with a valve porting surface. A further feature of the construction provides a cooperating front head plate with concentric alignment lands for attachment of the motor and a power output device such as a gear reducer.

A method and device for regulation of the output power of a fluid power motor involving the bypass of a selected portion of the supplied pressure fluid to the motor exhaust as a means of effectively reducing the available pressure drop across the motor and thereby its power output.

A fluid connection and control device for fluid machines permits fluid inlet or outlet connections without the necessity for threaded connection to the machine. This is accomplished by an elongate radially symmetrical body having first and second ends and a central axial fluid passage connecting the ends. The body is appropriately sized for the fluid channel of the fluid machine and has a provision at the first end for attachment of a flexible hose. The second end has a provision for a fluid tight seal between the body and the fluid channel as well as a mechanism by which the body is retained within the fluid channel of the fluid machine while permitting rotation thereof. Options are provided for incorporation of a valve mechanism for controlling the fluid flow. This provides the advantages of rapid assembly and avoidance of undue stresses to the fluid machine housing.

A rotary spool reversing valve is described which is operated in rotation by two parallel opposed push buttons. The spool is positioned in line with the incoming air passage permitting incoming air to flow axially through the spool directly to forward or reverse motor ports with a minimum of pressure loss. Thumb operation of the push buttons in a pistol grip tool permits convenient one hand operation with simple molded mechanisms providing economy and ease of operation.

This is accomplished by a radially symmetrical body having first and second ends and a central axial fluid passage connecting the ends. The body is appropriately sized for the fluid channel of the fluid machine and has a provision at the first end for attachment of a flexible hose. The second end has a provision for a fluid tight seal between the body and the fluid channel as well as a mechanism by which the body is captured within the fluid channel of the fluid machine. Options are provided for incorporation of a valve mechanism for controlling the fluid flow. The valve mechanism may be incorporated as an integral part of the body or as a separate modular unit which is retained in the fluid channel by the connector body. This provides the advantages of rapid assembly and avoidance of undue stresses to the fluid machine housing, and also provides flexibility of the hose directly adjacent the housing which contributes to improved maneuverability.

The assembly is so configured as to use common parts, whereby another assembly, having a different gear ratio, can be formed using the selfsame common parts. Only different gears, and a different frame is required to form the alternative assembly having the other gear ratio. Accordingly, stocking of discrete parts for the differing assemblies is greatly reduced.

An adjusting nut for axially positioning a rotatable member on a shaft relative to the housing includes an annular nut member with two opposed radial slots dividing the annular nut into thick and thin cantilevered portions. The thin cantilevered portion is resiliently axially displaceable relative to the thick portion. An actuating screw in a threaded through hole axially through the center of the cantilevered portion can be tightened to clamp the adjusting nut threads onto threads in the housing.

Disclosed is a wire tying mechanism which includes a mechanism for bending a wire partially around an object, a mechanism for holding the end portions of the wire by frictional clamping, and a mechanism for axially pulling the wire tight against the object and rotating the hold mechanism so as to twist the ends of the wire about each other.
