A method of cleaning teeth by providing a device for generating a chemical agent in situ on an as-needed basis via the application of an electrical potential across a pair of conductors in communication with an electrolyte. The chemical agents may include ozone, hydrogen peroxide, peroxide, chlorine and/or hypochlorite. The device may include a voltage source and a first set of electrodes for applying an electrical potential to the electrolyte. The device may also include a second set of electrodes disposed about an anode of the first set of electrodes. The first and second sets of anodes cooperate to produce ions, peroxides, ozone and/or other chemical agents via the application of electrical potential to the electrolyte.

Generating a chemical agent in situ

A device for generating a chemical agent in situ on an as-needed basis via the application of an electrical potential across a pair of conductors in communication with an electrolyte. The device may be a toothbrush that generates chemical agents in a user's mouth by applying an electrical potential to an electrolyte such as saliva and/or a dentifrice located therein. The chemical agents may include ozone, hydrogen peroxide, peroxide, chlorine and/or hypochlorite. The toothbrush may include a voltage source and a first set of electrodes for applying an electrical potential to the electrolyte. The toothbrush may also include a second set of electrodes disposed about an anode of the first set of electrodes. The first and second sets of anodes cooperate to produce ions, peroxides, ozone and/or other chemical agents via the application of electrical potential to the electrolyte.

Dentifrice possessing superior cleaning and polishing characteristics comprising a silicious and calcined alumina abrasive system in an amount to provide an enamel abrasion to the dentifrice of above about 450, (as measured by the radioactive method) and about 0.005-1.0% and preferably about 0.1-1.0% by weight of a water soluble fluoride salt, such as sodium fluoride, sodium monofluorophosphate, stannous fluoride and the like, with or without raising the pH of said composition to preferably above about 7 so as to reduce said enamel abrasion thereof.

Reduction of abrasiveness in dentifrices

Dentrifice possessing superior cleaning and polishing characteristics comprising a silicious and calcined alumina abrasive system in an amount to provide an enamel abrasion to the dentrifice of above about 450, (as measured by radioactive method) about 0.1-5% by weight and preferably 1-5% of a calcium, magnesium or sodium salt selected from the group consisting of the carbonates, bicarbonates, chlorides, phosphates, silicates and nitrates, with or without raising the pH of said composition to preferably above about 7, so as to reduce said enamel abrasion thereof.

Reduction of abrasiveness in dentrifices

A copolymer adapted be used for applying a non-permanent soil-release finish to fabrics comprising a copolymer of acrylic acid and 1,1 -- dihydroperfluorooctyl methacrylate. A ratio of one monomer to the other is respectively about 21:1 to 5:4 by weight. The composition is particularly useful for applying a soil-release finish in the rinse cycle of a home laundry process.

A composition for applying a non-permanent soil-release finish to fabrics from dilute solution comprising a polycarboxylate polymer having an acid equivalent weight of from about 110 to 175, and a water-soluble salt of a polyvalent metal. A preferred polymer is derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid and an alkyl acrylate. The composition is particularly useful for applying a soil-release finish in the rinse cycle of a home laundry process.
