Methods and systems for enabling a subscriber to interrupt a review of messages in a voice mail system (VMS), to make a call or take some other action, and to return to the same position as occupied at the time of interruption in the review of messages in the VMS. In response to an indication from the subscriber's communication to leave the review, an identifier is created to mark the position of the subscriber's communication in the review. The identifier is stored in the VMS. The VMS transmits a release message with respect to the subscriber's communication, the message including a copy of the identifier. The message may be a GR-1120 message including a remote operations (RO) parameter with the copy of the identifier. In response to the release message, a service control point (SCP) stores the copy of the identifier and causes whatever action is indicated in the message to be taken with respect to the subscriber's communication. In response to the receipt of the release message from a network element other than the VMS, the SCP routes the subscriber's communication including the copy of the identifier to the VMS. The VMS uses the copy of the identifier with the identifier to place the subscriber's communication in the same position occupied previously in the review.

Methods and systems for enabling return to same position in a review of messages in a voice mail system using tag or identifier stored in the voice mail system

Methods and systems are disclosed that allow for the exchange of voice mail messages between different VMSs of different service providers and/or in different networks by the transmission of such messages through a data network using a standard protocol of the data network. Methods and systems also are disclosed that validate message transactions among subscribers receiving regional messaging services over the PSTN. The subscribers are located in different geographic areas and may be provided their voice, facsimile or data messaging services by different companies. The present invention validates passing messages (data) among customers of potentially different companies located in different areas by assessing the validity of the transaction in light of a number of conditions, including applicable regulatory or business conditions.

Region-wide messaging system and methods including validation of transactions

The present invention is a system that allows users to compose and deliver voicemail messages that contain embedded applets. Users may interact with the system via telephone, multi-access device, PC, or any number of other devices. Users may also interact with the system via a variety of interfaces such as speech, dual tone multi-frequency, and graphical user interface. The system allows user to compose voicemail messages with embedded applets for delivery to multiple recipients. The applets provide the sender with the ability to leverage the voice messaging system so as to take full advantage of all systems and applications of the computer platform upon which the applet is being run. The voice message based applets may be updated dynamically based upon variables such as when the recipient receives the message. The message sender may also configure the system to provide notification and statistics regarding receipt of the message and embedded applets.

Methods and systems to send a message from a sending party to a recipient without the message revealing an identity of the sending party. The identity may be the name of the sending party, a calling line number associated with a calling line of the sending party, or an e-mail address of the sending party. The message may be a reply to a previous message or a forwarding message of an earlier message. In response to a message being received, a check is made to determine whether an anonymity feature is enabled for all messages received from the sending party, or whether the anonymity feature is enabled for the message. In response to finding the anonymity feature enabled for all messages or for the message, an anonymity indicator is included with the message. The presence of the anonymity indicator has the effect of withholding the identity of the sending party when the message is made available to or retrieved by the recipient. Despite the withholding of the identity of the sending party, the recipient may reply to the message. An embodiment provides that a message including an anonymity indicator may be rejected instead of routed to the recipient.
