A method for delivering fasteners to a remote installation tool is provided. The method includes delivering a first fastener of a first type to a remote installation tool in response to receiving a request for a fastener of the first type from an operator and staging a second fastener of the first type for delivery to the remote installation tool. The staging begins prior to receiving a request for another fastener of the first type from the operator. The staging includes retrieving the second fastener of the first type from a storage location and transferring the second fastener of the first type from the storage location to a staging location.

Methods and apparatus for delivering fasteners

Fastener clearing systems and methods for a fastener delivery system are provided. In one embodiment, a system includes an extractor tool having one or more vacuum generators in fluid communication with a catcher for retaining fasteners during transport. The vacuum generators are selectively activated to draw fasteners into the catcher. A backflow port is formed in the extractor tool and introduces pressurized air into the catcher to dislodge fasteners that adhere to the catcher after the vacuum generators have been deactivated. The backflow port may be formed in a fitting positioned between vacuum generators and securing the vacuum generators to one another. The vacuum generators and fitting may define a common fluid channel opening into a fastener seat adapted to receive a portion of a fastener.

Fastener clearing systems and methods

In-process non-contact measurement systems and methods for automated lapping systems are disclosed. In an embodiment, a moveable frame can be controllably positioned proximate to a lapped work product. A control component can provide first control signals to control a movement of the moveable frame relative to the lapped work product. A non-contact measuring device can be coupled to the moveable frame measures a surface of the lapped work product and can transmit measurement data of the surface of the lapped work product to the control component. The control component can further provide second control signals to control a movement of the non-contact measuring device relative to the moveable frame.

In-process non-contact measuring systems and methods for automated lapping systems

An automated lapping system is provided for lapping a work product using a robot. Because the robot can apply continuous consistent pressure that far exceeds the capabilities of a human operator, lapping and polishing evolutions take a fraction of the time taken by a human operator. The system includes a robot having one or more lapping end effectors and a control component that controls the robot to lap the work product. The control component includes a processor, a user interface coupled to the processor, a communication component that receives final work product dimensions, and a positioning component that detects a lapping zone on the work product and sends the detected lapping zone to the control component. The control component controls the robot based on the sent lapping zone and received work product dimensions.

Automated lapping system

A plunger in a plunger lift system in an oil and gas well includes circumferential recessed surfaces that define grooves spaced along the plunger body. A curved convex surface or radius is formed between the lower extent of each recessed surface and the plunger body, and a sharp edge or corner connects the upper extent of each recessed surface to the plunger body. The depth of the grooves decreases and the spacing between the grooves decreases from the bottom to the top of the plunger. The shape, sizing and spacing of the grooves improves plunger lift and decreases liquid loss during plunger lift.

A bypass valve for a plunger in a plunger lift system in an oil and gas well is disclosed. The valve has a valve body, a piston and a spring. The pressure differential across the piston keeps the valve closed during the upstroke of the plunger. The spring opens the valve when the pressure differential decreases to below a selected value.
