The invention comprises an electrical connector having a housing with a plurality of contacts mounted therein. The contacts have connection sections and solder tails. The solder tails are aligned with each other and have contact surfaces. An alignment member has grooves therealong to receive the solder tails therein. The solder tails are secured within the grooves to ensure that the solder tails are properly aligned with each other.

An electrical cable assembly (1) includes: an insulative housing block (20), conductive electrical contacts (9) on the housing block (20) connected to corresponding signal wires (5) of a cable (2), a conductive ground bus (7) connected to corresponding ground wires (4) of the cable (2), a conductive shell (35) enclosing the housing block (20), the ground bus (7) being enclosed by the conductive shell (35) and isolated electrically from the shell (35), and the ground wires (4) extending into the shell (35) and being isolated electrically from the shell (35).

A cable 3 connector 1 comprising, a housing block 2 and an electrical cable 3 having a signal wire 13 connected to a corresponding signal contact 4, and at least one reference wire 14 connected to a reference conductor 5 extending beside the signal contact 4, a housing 6 coupled to the housing 6 block 2 and receiving the signal contact 4 in one of multiple contact positions 7 in the housing 6, and a reference contact 10 received in the housing 6 and connected to the reference conductor 5.

An electrical cable assembly 1 comprises, electrical contacts 9 mounted in an insulative housing 8, the contacts 9 are connected to signal wires 4 of an electrical cable 2, a ground bus 7 connected to ground wires 5 of the cable 2, the wires 4,5 are bent to extend toward a cable entry side 15 or 16 of the assembly 1, the ground bus 7 is connected by tabs 14 to selected contacts 9', and the tabs 14 offset the ground bus 7 to a side of the assembly 1.

A solderless filtered connector is formed by a first housing of insulative material defining a plurality of filter passages, with resilient tines at least at one end of each passage. The first housing is plated with a conductive material to form a ground plane. Each filtered terminal is formed by a pin terminal having a compliant portion which engages an inner conductive surface of a respective filter sleeve, a filter locating shoulder and oppositely directed mating ends. Each filtered terminal is mounted in a respective passage with the tines making a resilient contact with the outer conductive surface of the filter. The connector can also include a second housing and front insert to enclose the filtered terminals and a metal shell for mating purposes.

Plated filtered connector

A solderless filtered connector is formed by a first insulative housing which is selectively plated with conductive material and is profiled to receive therein a second insulative housing carrying a plurality of filtered terminals in a spaced array. Ground is established by a multi-apertured grounding member which receives the respective filter sleeves therein and is profiled to make wiping engagement with the plated portion of the first housing. A metal shell secured to the first housing defines a mating face for the connector and completes the ground path. Each terminal has a compliant intermediate portion which is received in the bore of a respective filter sleeve to make solderless engagement therewith.
