A fluid feed system cover with an integrated funnel. A fluid feed system includes a reservoir and equipment installed on a top surface of the reservoir. The top surface of the reservoir also has a fill hole for replenishing the reservoir. A cover is installed on top of the reservoir, protecting the equipment. A funnel integrated into the cover extends into, or to just above, the reservoir fill hole, making it possible to replenish the reservoir without removing the cover. A manway is used to cover the upper opening of the funnel when reservoir replenishment is complete.

Micro-opto-mechanical chemical sensors and methods for simultaneously detecting and discriminating between a variety of vapor-phase analytes. One embodiment of the sensor is a photonic microharp chemical sensor with an array of closely spaced microbridges, each differing slightly in length and coated with a different sorbent polymer. The microbridges can be excited photothermally, and the microbridges can be optically interrogated using microcavity interferometry. Other actuation methods include piezoelectric, piezoresistive, electrothermal, and magnetic. Other read-out techniques include using a lever arm and other interferometric techniques.

The invention is directed to a portable carrying device that includes a housing, an elongated flexible strap extendable from the housing, and at least one rigid support arm attached to the housing and configured for supporting an article to be carried. The portable carrying device can include a coupler disposed on a first end of the elongated flexible strap and a mating structure disposed on a portion of the housing for releasably securing the coupler. The rigid support arm can be movable from a first position in which the rigid support arm is compactly stored relative to the housing, to a second position in which the rigid support arm is at least partially extended away from the housing. The housing can have at least one recess for receiving the rigid support arm and the rigid support arm can have a shape corresponding to the recess.

An optical viewing system for producing multiple image displays comprises a first screen for displaying a first two-dimensional image on a first electronic display device at a first predetermined distance from an observer and a second screen for displaying a second two-dimensional image on a second electronic display device at a second predetermined distance from the observer. Each of the screens is located at different predetermined locations on an optical viewing path relatively nearer to and farther from the observer. The first two-dimensional image is projected through the second screen, creating a multiple overlaid picture image. The first and second electronic display devices are operable asynchronously without degrading the multiple overlaid picture image. The screen disposed in the optical viewing path at the predetermined location nearer to the observer is partially transparent.

A hollow tubular mouthpiece that is clampable between the front teeth of a patient that is to receive a medical instrument through the mouth and into the esophagus. The mouthpiece has two spaced flanges to fit over the outside of the lips on the proximal end of the mouthpiece and behind the front teeth on the distal end of the mouthpiece with the intermediate space to be clamped between the biting front teeth. A central hollow passageway permits the instrument to be inserted. A lower curved tongue plate extends inwardly and downwardly to depress the patients tongue and to guide the forward end of the instrument.

Medical mouthpiece

A remediation method for decontamination of soil and groundwater that puts maximum remediation stress on the entire area and volume of contamination. This results in site restoration in days and weeks. The target contaminants are organic compounds such as hydrocarbon constituents associated with diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene, solvents and creosote. Cleanup concentrations to non-detectable levels can be achieved when properly implemented. Positive pressure is used to push an uncontaminated gas throughout the entire contaminated area/volume. When contacting the contaminated area, volume and media, this gas becomes a carrier gas, stripping the contaminants and carrying them to ground level where they can be collected and treated or dissipated to the atmosphere. The method incorporates air entry points (vertical, horizontal, or directional) installed to a depth below the contamination, combined with a predetermined air entry point spacing (depth/spacing ratio). Use of an operating duty cycle enhances contaminant yield from the groundwater, the soil matrix below the groundwater table, and the soil above the groundwater table. Horizontal migration of contaminants during the process is prevented by the use of gas entry points around a boundary perimeter of the zone being purged. One or two days' use of the method produces the same results as one year of other remediation methods, such as 'pump and treat'. Transfer or removal rates of 40% to 50% per day of the existing contaminants are normal. No (vacuum) extraction wells are necessary to make this in-situ method work. Biodegradation is not a factor. Progress is measured by the amount of contaminants remaining. Site rehabilitation to regulatory standards, measured in micrograms per liter or parts per billion, can be achieved within weeks.

Method of rapid purging of contaminants from a contaminated area of soil

In one embodiment, the optical viewing system produces a simulated, three dimensional image utilizing two video monitors and a half silvered mirror. The two dimensional image produced by one monitor is transmitted through the half silvered mirror while the second image from the second monitor is reflected from the half silvered mirror and overlaid onto the image of the first monitor. Since the screens of the monitors are located at different distances from the initial point of overlay of the two images, the images appear to the observer, in the optical viewing path, to be three dimensional.

A water delivery system for delivering water of optimum ph, oxygen content and/or temperature from a water body into a holding tank or live well for containing fish or other marine life, which system includes a water pick-up cone attached to a hose which is carried by a reel, wherein the pick-up cone is lowered to an ideal water depth or stratum and water is pumped to the holding tank or live well. In a first preferred embodiment of the invention, a submersible pump is provided in the pick-up cone for pumping the water into the holding tank or live well and in a second preferred embodiment, a pump is located at the dry end of the water transfer hose to achieve the pumping function. A method for delivering water of optimum ph, oxygen content and/or temperature from a comfort zone or stratum in a water body to a holding tank or to one or more live wells in a boat, which method includes the steps of lowering a water pick-up cone to the estimated comfort zone or stratum for fish at a desired depth; monitoring the ph, oxygen content and/or temperature of the water at this depth; pumping water from this stratum into the holding tank or live well(s); and monitoring the ph, oxygen content and/or temperature of the water in the holding tank or live well(s) to maintain a water condition in the holding tank or live well(s) which closely approximates the water condition at the selected stratum depth in the water body from which the water is pumped.
