A system for passively exhausting air from a structure includes at least one pair of modules arranged on a roof of the structure. Each module has an exhaust face on one side and a sloped surface on the opposite side, and can receive exhaust air that flows upward from inside the structure. The modules can be arranged in pairs facing one another, with one of the sloped surfaces facing a direction of an environmental flow of air, so that the environmental air can flow up the sloped surface of one module and down the sloped surface of the other module without impinging on the exhaust faces of either module. The pairs can also be arranged side-by-side in an array, which can be expanded with additional pairs of modules to exhaust from the structure at a greater rate.

Passive roof exhausting system

A pre-fabricated mechanical and electrical distribution infrastructure system comprises pre-fabricated panels that are connected together to form an air plenum for air distribution system at a data center location. The pre-fabricated panels include other infrastructure systems pre-assembled to the panels such that installation of the panels to form the air plenum also installs the other infrastructure systems, such as power distribution busways, building management sensors, lighting, etc.

Pre-fabricated mechanical and electrical distribution infrastructure system

A data center infrastructure module enables multiple data center infrastructure systems to be simultaneously installed in a data center (as opposed to sequentially installing the respective data center infrastructure systems). The data center infrastructure module includes a collapsible frame and one or more data center infrastructure system components coupled to the collapsible frame. The data center infrastructure module may be pre-assembled remotely from a data center location and may be transported to the data center location in a collapsed state. At the data center location, the pre-assembled data center infrastructure module may be expanded and installed between self-standing frames.

Collapsible and expandable data center infrastructure modules

A data center includes rack mounted computing systems arranged in rows with one or more cold aisles between success rows of rack mounted computing systems. A modular cooling unit is configured to mount above one of the cold aisles and form a ceiling for the cold aisle and partially seal the cold aisle from other environments in the data center. The modular cooling unit draws air from the other environments, cools the air, and directs the cooled air into the cold aisle. Modular cooling units may be incrementally added to a data center as additional rows of rack computing systems are added to the data center.

Rapid deploy air cooling system

An inverted exhaust plenum module exhausts air from an enclosure into an ambient environment while mitigating airflow restrictions caused by ambient wind conditions, particularly headwinds impinging on exhaust vents. The plenum module includes wall elements that extend downwards from separate edges of two separate roof elements of the enclosure, forming a plenum between the wall elements that is open at the top. Exhaust vents in the wall elements exhaust air from the enclosure into the plenum to circulate into the ambient environment via the top of the plenum. By exhausting air into a plenum that extends beneath roof elements, the vents are at least partially obscured from ambient winds that might otherwise impinge on the vents. A wing element can be installed to induce exhaust airflow via lowering air pressure at the top of the plenum. The plenum module can be a separate module that is coupled to a structure.

Power distribution infrastructure is incrementally deployed and commissioned to enable incremental infrastructure deployment to support incremental changes in computing capacity in a data center, where interaction between infrastructure being commissioned and installed computer systems is mitigated. Power distribution system commissioning includes coupling busway stub segments to a downstream end of the power distribution system and operating load banks, coupled to each busway stub segment, to simulate the power distribution system supporting electrical power consumption by multiple sets of computer systems through the busway stub segments. A power busway, installed via coupling busway segments to a busway stub segment, is commissioned while electrically isolated from the power distribution system via coupling a load bank and secondary power distribution system to opposite ends of the busway and operating the load bank to simulate the power busway supporting electrical power consumption by a set of computer systems, via reserve power, throughout the busway length.

Incremental data center infrastructure commissioning

A rack installation control system adjustably controls the rate at which rack computer systems are installed in computer rooms in one or more data centers, based on the electrical power consumption by the installed rack computer systems. The rack installation rate can be adjusted based on installed rack computer system power consumption exceeding a threshold, including a threshold proportion of a power supply capacity of a power distribution system. When the power consumption by installed rack computer systems in a particular computer room exceeds a threshold, rack computer system installation can be initiated in an additional room. Where a computer room includes a fixed number of positions, and when the fixed number of racks is installed in the computer room and at least some power distribution system power capacity is available, additional rack computer systems can be installed in an additional space to consume the available power distribution system capacity.

Variable rate rack installation

A power busway interposer enables a power busway assembly of energized busway segments to be extended, via coupling additional busway segments to the assembly, while maintaining energization of the assembly. As a result, a power busway assembly providing power support to electrical loads can be extended while maintaining power support to the electrical loads. The interposer includes separate sets of connectors that couple with separate busway segments and a switching device which selectively electrically couples the connectors, so that a power busway connector can be de-energized while another separate power busway connector is coupled to an energized busway segment and then subsequently energized. Extending the power busway assembly can include coupling separate sets of connectors to separate busway segments, where the separate sets of connectors are electrically isolated, and adjusting the switching device to electrically couple the separate sets of connectors, so that power is distributed between coupled busway segments.

Power busway interposer

An elevated automatic transfer switch (ATS) cabinet provides modular and incremental power support redundancy to a set of electrical loads which reduces capital waste and increases the floor space which can be occupied by electrical loads. The cabinet includes a mounting element which can be coupled to a free-standing structure proximate to the floor space, so that the cabinet is supported by the structure in an elevated position and is freed from occupying floor space. The cabinet includes slots in which separate ATS modules can be installed via blind mate connections, thereby enabling modular and incremental installation of ATS support capacity in the cabinet based on incremental installation of electrical loads. The cabinet can physically couple with power cables extending from separate electrical loads, so that the cabinet electrically couples ATS modules to electrical loads independently of branch circuits between the cabinet and the electrical loads.
