A system for detecting and stopping flooding from a residential water heating system. A central controller is coupled to one or more flooding sensors and one or more automatic valves. In response to the sensors' detecting water, the controller causes the automatic valves to close, shutting off flow of water into or out of the water heating system. Advanced modular galvanic sensors and low-voltage, high-torque automatic ball valves may be used to improve the energy efficiency and responsiveness of the system. When flooding is detected, a variety of visual and auditory signals are generated by the controller, providing advance warning to the blind, deaf, or elderly that flooding is occurring and prompt attention is required.

Talking water tank minder

An opto-electric apparatus includes a circuit board, an opto-electric converter module with a plurality of electrical leads, a holder rigidly holding the opto-electric converter module, and a connection structure. The holder is rigidly fixed to the circuit board, and the connection structure is rigidly connected to the holder. The leads of the module protrude into holes in the structure. The structure electrically connects the circuit board to the leads.

Mounting opto-electric modules on circuit boards

Hermetically sealed electrical leads emanating from the neck portion of a conductive housing extend through a sleeve member that includes conductive and non-conductive parts. The sleeve member is dimensioned to firmly engage the neck portion of the housing. When so engaged, the electrical leads extend through longitudinal openings in the non-conductive part. In that way, a substantial extent of the leads is shielded. Moreover, the extent to which the leads can be laterally moved with respect to their hermetic seals is thereby significantly restricted.
