The present disclosure provides a core-sheath filament. The core-sheath filament includes an adhesive core and a non-tacky sheath, wherein the sheath exhibits a melt flow index of less than 15 grams per 10 minutes. The present disclosure also provides a method of printing an adhesive. The method includes a) melting a core-sheath filament in a nozzle to form a molten composition, and b) dispensing the molten composition through the nozzle onto a substrate. Steps a) and b) are carried out one or more times to form a printed adhesive. The core-sheath filament includes an adhesive core and a non-tacky sheath. Further, methods are provided, including receiving, by a manufacturing device having one or more processors, a digital object comprising data specifying an article; and generating, with the manufacturing device by an additive manufacturing process using a core-sheath filament, the article including a printed adhesive based on the digital object. A system is also provided, including a display that displays a 3D model of an article; and one or more processors that, in response to the 3D model selected by a user, cause a 3D printer to create a physical object of an article including a printed adhesive, using a core-sheath filament.

Core-sheath filaments and methods of printing an adhesive

Described are adhesive compositions containing a block copolymer component that includes a midblock segment and a plurality of end block segments, each end block segment comprising polystyrene, a (meth)acrylic functional additive having a glass transition temperature of from 50° C. to 160° C., a first tackifier compatible with the midblock segment and containing a hydrocarbon, and a second tackifier compatible with the end block segments and containing a polyphenylene ether. These compositions are useful in providing pressure-sensitive adhesives that are melt processible, display a high temperature resistance, and effectively bond to low surface energy substrates.

Adhesive compositions, assemblies, and methods thereof

Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions and articles that include a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are particularly well suited for use with substrates that have been considered to have difficult to bond to surfaces such as those routinely encountered in the automotive industry. For example, the pressure-sensitive adhesive can be adhered to clear coat compositions, painted surfaces, and various polymeric materials having low energy surfaces (e.g., surfaces having a surface energy no greater than 35 dynes per centimeter).

Adhesive compositions and articles

A core-sheath filament including a crosslinkable adhesive core that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These crosslinkable adhesive core compositions can provide very high bond strength and are capable of replacing traditional mechanical fasteners in many industrial applications. Core-sheath filaments including such crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions contain pendant aromatic ketone groups or pendant (meth)acryloyl groups that, upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, result in the formation of crosslinks within the polymeric material. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Provided are adhesive articles that include a barrier layer that is substantially impermeable to oxygen gas at ambient temperature and pressure along with a heat-bondable layer, which could be a discrete layer adjacent to the barrier layer or integral with the barrier layer. The adhesive article further includes a backing extending across and coupled to the barrier layer and an adhesive layer extending across and coupled to the backing opposite the barrier layer. The barrier layer reduces or eliminates migration of plasticizers from the bonded seal into the adhesive article, limiting deterioration of tape performance over time.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided that is a dried product of a latex composition, which is formed from an emulsion composition. The latex composition and the emulsion composition are also provided. The emulsion composition has droplets that contain various monomers plus a (meth)acrylate polymer and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier dissolved in the monomers. Additionally, an article containing a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive and a method of forming the pressure-sensitive adhesive are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesives often have both high peel adhesion and high shear strength (i.e., high cohesive strength or high shear holding power).

Water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions

Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions containing 92 to 99.9 parts of a block copolymer adhesive composition and 0.1 to less than 8 parts of an acrylic adhesive composition are described. Tapes including such adhesives, and methods of making such tapes are also described.

Blends of block copolymer and acrylic adhesives

Pressure sensitive adhesives comprising a linear block copolymer having a rubbery block and at least one glassy block; a multi-arm block copolymer having at least three arms, each having both a rubbery block and a glassy block; a first high glass transition temperature tackifier compatible with the rubbery blocks; a second high glass transition temperature tackifier having compatible with the glassy blocks; and at least one of a low Tg tackifier, a plasticizer, and combinations thereof, are disclosed. Tapes that include such adhesive, methods of making such tapes, and bonded composites using such adhesives and tapes are also disclosed.

Block copolymer blend adhesives with multiple tackifiers

A method of making a pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesive. The method includes extruding a melt composition that includes a polymer, wherein the polymer has acidic groups covalently attached thereto, and a metal salt hydrate, wherein the metal salt hydrate has a melting point that is less than the maximum processing temperature.

This disclosure provides (meth)acryloyl pressure-sensitive adhesive foams and foam articles having one or more of the following properties: small cells, uniform cell sizes, pressure sensitive adhesive compositions, compliance to irregular substrates and vibration damping, and shock absorbing properties.

A moisture curable, hot melt composition is described comprising the product of reacted components, the components comprising: (a) a semi-crystalline polyol; (b) an amorphous polyol comprising secondary hydroxyl groups; (c) a secondary aminosilane endcapper comprising secondary amino functionality; (d) an isocyanate; and (e) substantially no tin. A method for the manufacture of the moisture curable, hot melt adhesive and/or sealant composition is described as well as methods for using the adhesive.

Silane based moisture curing hot-melt adhesives

A laser imageable article includes an imageable layer that comprises the reaction product of a metal precursor and a reactant. The imageable article also includes a first boundary layer on a first side of the imageable layer, the first boundary layer being substantially transparent to laser radiation, and a second boundary layer on a second side of the imageable layer. The imageable layer may be imaged with a laser through the first boundary layer while maintaining the continuity of the first boundary layer. In a preferred embodiment, the imageable layer comprises the reaction product of an ion of one or more metals selected from columns 8, 9, and 10 of the periodic table of elements and a reducing agent selected from hypophosphorus acid and salts thereof, sodium borohydride, and dimethylamine borane. One preferred embodiment of the imageable layer comprises from 1 to 30 mole percent phosphorus and up to 99 mole percent nickel. Another preferred embodiment of the imageable layer comprises from 1 to 40 mole percent boron and up to 99 mole percent nickel.

An article comprises a substrate wherein at least a portion of its surface is provided with a thermosettable adhesive composition prepared from a polyepoxide resin, a curing agent and a plurality of microspheres. The cured composition forms a semi-structural bond with said substrate which is inseparable at the use temperature and is cleanly removable from said substrate when heated to a temperature of greater than the use temperature.

A thermosetting adhesive comprising a polyepoxide resin, a curing agent such as an imidazole and polymeric or elastomeric microspheres is removable when heated to a temperature greater than the use temperature of from about room temperature to about 185&deg; C.

A method of imaging an article comprising a metal/metal oxide imageable layer with a laser beam. In particular, the present invention relates to a method for imparting a color image on the article. The method includes: a) providing an article including a substrate and an imageable layer, the imageable layer comprising a metal/metal oxide layer; b) imagewise applying a laser beam to the article; and c) in the portion of the article having the laser applied thereto, imparting a color to the metal/metal oxide layer different from the color in the non-imaged portion. Preferably, the imageable layer comprises aluminum/aluminum oxide. Also presented are imageable articles, and the resulting imaged articles.
