A method of attaching a brush head to an oral cleansing device is provided. The method may include inserting a drive shaft of the oral cleansing device into a shaft of the brush head. The method may include causing, in response to inserting the drive shaft into the shaft of the brush head, a cantilevered beam inside the shaft to bend outward, creating a reactionary force that presses against the drive shaft.

A bypass flow assembly of an oral irrigator is provided. The oral irrigator may include a handle positionable between a first mode and a second mode and a valve assembly including a bypass valve movable between first and second positions and an inlet valve movable between open and closed positions. The first position of the bypass valve may be associated with the first mode of the handle and the second position of the bypass valve may be associated with the second mode of the handle, such that the bypass valve moves from the first position to the second position when the handle is positioned in the second mode and remains in the second position until the handle is positioned in the first mode. The inlet valve may move between the open and closed positions when the bypass valve is positioned in the first position and the second position.

An oral irrigator has a base unit housing a motor and a pump, a removable reservoir defining a reservoir cavity configured to mechanically couple to a top surface of the base unit and fluidly couple the reservoir cavity to the pump, and a belt drive assembly connecting the motor to the pump. The belt drive assembly includes a drive pulley connected to an output shaft of the motor, a driven pulley spaced apart from the drive pulley and mechanically connected to a piston that drives the pump, and a continuous belt connecting the drive pulley to the driven pulley. A handle for the oral irrigator may include a housing defining a slot formed in an outer wall of the housing.

An oral irrigator including a reservoir, a handle, a housing, a bezel positioned at least partially within and secured to the housing, and an actuator operably coupled to the housing and movable relative thereto is disclosed. The actuator includes a control shaft extending from the interior surface of the face and positioned inwards from an outer perimeter of front wall. The control shaft extends through an aperture in the housing and movement of a gripping body causes the control shaft to directly actuate a switch or a pressure assembly positioned within the housing. The actuator also includes an augmentation fluid positioned between the bezel and a portion of the actuator. The augmentation fluid modifies a frictional relationship between the bezel and the actuator to provide a predefined resistance force between the actuator and the bezel as the actuator is rotated relative to the bezel.

The present disclosure includes embodiments directed to an oral irrigator with a magnetic attachment. The oral irrigator may include a base unit and a handle. The base unit may include a first positioning feature. The handle may include a second positioning feature corresponding with the first positioning feature of the base unit to removably couple the handle to the base unit at any one of a plurality of desired positions, such as at any one of a plurality of vertically adjacent positions, relative to the base unit. Each of the first and second positioning features may be a magnet device to magnetically couple the handle to the base unit The magnetic attachment between the handle and the base unit may automatically align the handle into a correct storage position.

A brush head for an oral cleansing device is provided. The brush head may include a shaft and a cantilevered beam positioned within the shaft. The cantilevered beam may be configured to press against a drive shaft of the oral cleansing device to transfer motion of the drive shaft to the brush head. An oral irrigator has a removable reservoir defining a reservoir cavity, a base unit housing a motor and a pump, and a handle for directing fluid flow from the pump removably connected to the base unit and fluidly coupled to the pump by a hose. The handle has a housing defining a slot formed in an outer wall of the housing. The slot is bounded by two opposing walls spaced apart from each other and a transverse wall at a terminal interior end of the opposing walls. The outer wall of the housing is open to the slot at lateral sides of the two opposing walls and at a base end of the opposing walls opposite the transverse wall.

The present disclosure relates to an oral cleansing device with illumination features. In one example, a diffuser for diffusing light is disclosed. The diffuser includes a first membrane configured to be positioned over a first light source, a second membrane coupled to the first membrane and configured to be positioned over a second light source; and a bridge coupling the first membrane to the second membrane, where the bridge extends from an edge of the first membrane to an edge of the second membrane in an indirect manner.

An actuation assembly for an oral irrigator includes a bezel secured to or formed as part of a housing of the oral irrigator, an actuator operably connected to the bezel and moveable relative thereto, and an augmentation fluid positioned between the bezel and the actuator. The augmentation fluid modifies a frictional relationship between the bezel and the actuator to provide a predefined resistance force between the actuator and the bezel as the actuator is rotated relative to the bezel.

An oral irrigator handle through which fluid flows to a tip is described. Fluid flows from a fluidically connected hose to the tip during irrigate mode, and fluid flow may be interrupted by selecting a pause mode. The handle includes a mechanically controlled actuator for selecting the pause mode. The actuator may be operably connected to a shuttle valve that is positioned to block fluid flow to the tip during pause mode but not during irrigate mode. The handle may also include a swivel assembly. The swivel assembly prevents rotational movement of either the handle or the hose from being transmitted to the other, such that rotation of the handle will not affect the position of the hose.

The present disclosure relates to an oral cleansing device with illumination features. In one example, the device includes a housing including an aperture, such as a button aperture, defined therethrough, a diffuser connected to the housing and configured to span over the aperture. The device also includes a blocking member positioned over a portion of the diffuser and connected thereto and a lighting array received within the housing and at least partially aligned with the blocking member such that light emitted from the lighting array is transmitted to an exterior of the housing by traveling around the blocking member and through the diffuser.
