The present invention provides methods and combinations for reducing the infarct volume in a tissue of a subject undergoing ischemia or at risk of developing ischemia.

Dodecafluoropentane emulsion as a stroke and ischemia therapy

A device for inducing a cycling motion in patients who have little or no motor control of their legs. The device has bicycle-type pedals connected via a belt or chain drive to a motor with a speed control allowing a very low rate of rotation from 0.1 cycles per second up to about 1.0 cycles per second. The device includes straps for wheelchair wheels for locking a wheelchair in position such that the patient's feet may be strapped onto the pedals. The diameter of rotation of the pedals is adjustable to accommodate different leg lengths and to allow various diameters of rotation of the pedals. The motor is housed within a console with medial and lateral supports so that the legs of the patient are maintained in alignment.

Motorized bicycle exercise trainer

A method of treating various anxiety-related disorders, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, panic attacks, or general anxiety disorder is disclosed. It has been found that the P1 midlatency auditory evoked potential of such patients undergoes increased amplitude and decreased habituation. Stimulation of three specific acupuncture points LR3, HT3, and PC6) on three different acupuncture meridians has been found to reduce the amplitude of the P1 potential using 20-minute periods of stimulation. Low frequency stimulation (around 5 Hz) was found to be most effective. Repeated periods of stimulation were also found to increase the effect of the treatment.

Surface stimulation of specific acupuncture points to reduce anxiety

A method and device for inducing locomotion in animals by electrical stimulation of the spinal cord using long duration pulses (0.2 msec to 2 msec) delivered at low frequencies (0.5 Hz to 20 Hz) epidurally or subdurally to the dorsal columns or dorsal root entry zone at the cervical or lumbar regions of the spinal cord for treating deficits in locomotion.
