Overspray collection apparatus comprises an extraction duct () between two sloped floors () with unobstructed inlet slots () on either side thereof. The extraction duct () comprises two moveable panels () pivotally mounted to the sloped floors (). Each moveable panel () pivots about an axis that is offset from a lower portion of the moveable panel and a lower portion of the sloped floor. In another embodiment, the pivotal mount comprises an offset hinge. The overspray extraction duct () comprises a duct floor () and an air diffuser assembly () that extends at least partially across the duct floor. The air diffuser assembly () receives pressurized air and directs pressurized air into the extraction duct (), whereby the pressurized air may be pulsed. The overspray extraction duct () comprises a suction hood () that includes moveable panels (). Optional actuators may apply a force impulse to one or more of the moveable panels (), and/or to open and close the suction hood () automatically.

Overspray collection apparatus for a powder spray booth

A material dispenser having a dispensing tube assembly having an outlet end with an orifice from which material is dispensed onto a surface, and an inlet end having an opening adapted to receive material from a supply during a dispensing operation; and means for imparting orbital motion to said outlet end relative to an axis; the tube assembly having a first section having the inlet end at a first end thereof, a second section having the outlet end at a first end thereof, and a third section that flexibly joins the first and second sections. In one embodiment the flexible third section includes a plurality of rings or hoops to increase hoop strength. A shield liner and air wash features are used to reduce the amount of dispensed material that collects on and in the gun. The dispensing tube is arranged to prevent pivoting movement at a primary pressure seal.

A method and apparatus for degassing a high viscosity fluid wherein a vacuum chamber is oriented vertically and adapted for receiving a fluid at its top end and discharging it from a reservoir at its bottom end, the chamber having an assembly having a slotted wide-mouthed nozzle and a channel slide member mounted within the top end so as to receive a fluid fed into the chamber. The nozzle is adapted for spreading the fluid onto the surface of the slide member which is angularly positioned downwardly towards the reservoir such that fluid on the slide member surface exhibits laminar flow as it moves downwardly. A vacuum drawn on the chamber effects a release of any gaseous materials contained within the fluid as it moves down the slide surface and into the reservoir where it may be drawn out for application by one or more nozzles.

A method of applying a clear glass primer material and then a black glass primer material onto the marginal edge of a windshield and/or rear window of a vehicle, in which a dispenser is employed to discharge such primer materials in discrete streams or drops. The streams or drops impinge upon the surface of the glass such that any ricocheting or deflection of the material will remain within the area to be coated or is entrapped by a felt wick or pad without splashing or overspray onto the surrounding surfaces. An optical detector is employed to monitor the streams or drops of primer material dispensed.

Method of applying primers onto glass elements of vehicles

A dual-acting, reciprocating piston pump is provided which comprises a pump body formed with a passageway having an inlet and a discharge outlet which receives a piston assembly including a plunger rod carrying a valve plate or spider, a shovel rod carrying a shovel disc and a rod connector formed with a valve seat which interconnects the plunger rod and shovel rod. A tubular check valve is carried on the rod connector between the valve seat and the valve plate in sliding contact with the internal wall in the pump body formed by the passageway, which divides the passageway into an upper pumping chamber communicating with the discharge outlet and a lower pumping chamber communicating with the inlet. A second check valve is located at the inlet to the passageway in the pump body and is movable between an open and closed position relative thereto.
