The present invention comprises a wide-band omni telemetry system adapted r increasing the signal transmission bandwidth of an existing tactical array having a single shared transmission line. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention electronic elements are provided for conditioning and converting a wide-band analog data signal, received from an underwater acoustic sensing device, to an appropriate wide-band digital signal. Timing elements provide a carrier wave signal interface with telemetry elements for modulating the carrier wave signal with the wide-band digital signal wherein the carrier wave is quadrature phase shift key modulated. In this way two separate carrier waves are created that are shifted in phase by about 90.degree. relative to one another. Coupling elements are employed to couple the two carrier waves to the tactical array wherein at least two diplexors interface with the carrier waves so as to couple the wide-band digital signal with a plurality of acoustic and environmental data gathered by the tactical array. The coupled carrier waves are then transmitted over the single shared transmission line. Command decoding elements provide a communication link to the tactical array so as to synchronize generation of the wide-band analog data signal by the underwater acoustic sensing device with the operation of the telemetry elements.

Wide-band omni telemetry system

Process for obtaining increased yields of minerals from bedded ore desposits in the absence of natural confining beds, by confining the flow of leach solution to the mineralized zone through operation of wells comprising, (a) injecting ground water into the barren zones above and below the mineralized zone while simultaneously injecting leaching solution into the mineralized zone at a single injection well location, and (b) recovering ground water from barren zones while simultaneously recovering leaching solution from the mineralized zone at a single recovery well location.

Bedded mineral extraction process

An improved method of in situ mining of a mineral bearing stratum. The method comprises drilling alternating rows of vertical injection and recovery wells to the depth of an aquiferrous mineral bearing stratum. Two horizontal branches are drilled at the bottom of each injection and recovery well. The horizontal branches are substantially parallel to one another and lie within the mineral bearing stratum. Leachant fluid is pumped under pressure into the injection wells to dissolve the minerals contained in the stratum. Leachant fluid containing the dissolved minerals is pumped out through the recovery wells. The method of the present invention requires substantially less drilling and pipe for extracting minerals from a given volume of a mineral bearing stratum and results in more constant mineral extraction rates than conventional techniques.
