A first race component includes a flat, circular raceway portion, defined about an axis, and an axially extending lip portion. A plurality of needle rollers is arranged radially with respect to the axis for rolling contact with the flat raceway. A bearing cage retains the needle rollers and is engageable with the lip portion of the first component for piloting of the bearing cage. A second race component, made of different material, includes a flat portion in contact with the raceway portion of the first race component and a lip portion extending axially and radially from the flat portion and beyond the lip portion of the first race component such that the second race component is engageable by the bearing cage to hold the first race component, the second race component and the bearing cage together as an assembly.

Thrust bearing and method of making same

The bearing is used in a constant velocity universal joint of the type used in front wheel drive axles for motor vehicles. The universal joint housing has arcuately spaced apart pairs of parallel flat raceways. A bearing is provided in the arcuate space between each pair of housing raceways. The bearing has a single roller which contacts one raceway at a time with a very small clearance from the other raceway. The single roller has a curved outer periphery. A cylindrical sleeve separates the single roller from a plurality of rollers which roll about a bearing support on a shaft which extends into the universal joint housing. The inner cylindrical surface of the sleeve is in contact with the plurality of rollers, each of which have a curved outer surface.

A rocker arm assembly for a fixed rocker shaft has an open rocker arm body containing a bearing supported radially by the rocker arm body bottom wall. The rocker arm side walls axially position the bearing.

Needle bearing rocker arm assembly

The oscillating bearing has an arcuate inner raceway, an arcuate outer raceway, and an arcuate retainer between the raceways. The raceways and retainer have aligned openings for receiving a stud. On each side of the retainer opening the retainer has a pair of arcuate roller pockets extending in the oscillating direction and longitudinally spaced from the retainer opening. A roller is located in each roller pocket.
