According to an example, to repair a disk drive error, a determination is made if a disk field-repair is possible, if an operating system recovery image is available, and if any failed sectors exist in the operating system recovery image. A user is prompted to begin a repair. Failed sectors on the disk drive are read and overwritten, and an operating system recovery is started. In some examples, the disk drive error is an uncorrectable disk drive error.

In example embodiments, a battery test may include determining whether charge control is available for a battery and reading battery data from the battery based on whether charge control is available for the battery. A shallow open top sheet metal housing contains thermal insulating material on its side and bottom walls and is covered by a translucent top panel beneath which a multiplicity of translucent tubes in side-by-side contacting relationship provide dead air insulation. Serpentine copper tubing topped by a blackened flat copper sheet is arranged in a plane below and parallel to the plane in which the translucent tubes are positioned.
