A power driven, telescoping steering column having a tubular outer jacket, a tubular inner jacket, and a tubular intermediate jacket arranged for coaxial telescopic movement relative with one another via actuation of an actuator assembly includes, a mounting device operably coupled against relative axial movement with the tubular outer jacket, with the actuator assembly being coupled to the mounting device without being fixedly connected or attached to the tubular outer jacket.

The telescope actuator assembly includes a jackscrew nut translatable along a lead screw. The telescope actuator assembly includes a telescope drive bracket having a base portion and a pair of arms extending from the base portion, the pair of arms each defining a slot with a respective slot surface, wherein the jackscrew nut is disposed within the slots. The telescope actuator assembly includes a first nut capture plug coupled to one of the pair of arms, the first nut capture plug having at least one tooth disposed within a cavity on a first side of the jackscrew nut to prevent relative rotation between the jackscrew nut and the telescope drive bracket.

A steering column assembly includes a jacket having a first end, a second end, a jacket length, and an inner surface defining a bore. The steering column assembly also includes a steering shaft having an outer surface and a shaft length, at least a portion of the steering shaft located within the bore defined by the inner surface of the jacket. The steering column assembly further includes a stiffening sleeve having a radially inner surface, a radially outer surface, and a sleeve length, wherein the radially outer surface of the stiffening sleeve is fixed to the inner surface of the jacket.

A rake pivot assembly for a steering column assembly includes a pair of flanges spaced from each other and oriented parallel to each other, each of the flanges defining an elongated opening. The assembly also includes a pair of lower brackets, each of the lower brackets having a portion thereof fitting over one of the pair of flanges. The assembly further includes a pair of alignment bushings, each of the pair of alignment bushings at least partially disposed within one of the elongated openings and positioned between one of the lower brackets and one of the flanges. The assembly yet further includes a pair of lower bracket pins, each of the lower bracket pins extending along a pivot axis of the steering column assembly and through one of the lower brackets and through one of the flanges to couple one of the lower brackets to one of the flanges.

The steering column assembly also includes a plate coupled to an outer surface of the upper jacket and disposed between the base portion of the telescope drive bracket and the upper jacket, the plate having a retention feature positioned to contact the bridge of the lower jacket to define a rearward telescope limit.

A telescope drive assembly for a steering column assembly includes a column jacket moveable in a rake direction and defining a tapered slot. The telescope drive assembly also includes a telescope actuator assembly operatively coupled to the column jacket to move the column jacket in a telescope direction. The telescope drive assembly further includes a telescope drive bracket operatively coupled to the telescope actuator assembly and to the column jacket, the telescope drive bracket and the column jacket rotatable about a common axis in the rake direction. The telescope drive assembly yet further includes a telescope guide disposed between the telescope drive bracket and the column jacket, the telescope guide disposed at least partially within the tapered slot and translatable within the tapered slot in the telescope direction.

A receiving area is defined between the first member body and the second member body.

Yet further included is a rake bolt extending through the lower jacket, the rake bracket and the first and second rake guides.
