A method of forming a clevis link having a substantially common wall thickness in a die begins with feeding a metallic strip having a uniform thickness of a predetermined value to the die. The metallic strip is trimmed to form a blank having volume necessary for forming the clevis link to the dimensional configuration required to support the motor vehicle, while maintaining substantially constant wall thickness. The clevis link has center of gravity to provide a necessary moment of inertia thereby enabling the clevis link to support the mass of the motor vehicle.

Suspension system for a vehicle and method

A suspension system of the present invention pivotally supports a wheel of a motor vehicle. An upper control arm and a lower control arm are cooperable with a spindle, which supports the wheel. A vibration damper is cooperable with the upper control arm. A link interconnects the lower control arm and one of the terminal ends of the vibration damper thereby defining a common axis bisecting the link. The vibration damper moves along the common axis to absorb vibration transferred from a road surface and through the wheel.

Suspension system for a vehicle

A torque arm for securing the position of a power train relative to a motor vehicle includes a first mount and a second mount. The first mount and the second mount are spaced by a body portion. The first mount is formed by a continuous ring defining a first central opening and is integral with the body portion. The second mount is formed by a loop defining a second central opening and the loop extends from the body portion at an opposite end of the body portion from the continuous ring.

Stamped link for supporting an engine

A die formed monolithic yoke assembly for a universal joint of an automotive driveline assembly subject to high torsional loads having a substantially uniformed thickness, including a cup-shaped portion, a pair of opposed lugs integral with and extending from an upper portion of the cup-shaped portion and an integral, outwardly deformed substantially continuous lip portion extending outwardly from the upper surface of the annular wall and the lugs substantially strengthening the yoke assembly particularly against torsional loads. In one embodiment, the upper end of the cup-shaped portion included concave arcuate portions on opposed sides of the lugs adjacent the lugs, such that the upper surface of the cup-shaped portion transitions from a concave surface to a convex surface strengthening the yoke.
