A golf club head with sound tuning. The golf club head includes a hollow body that defines an interior cavity and at least one tuning member extends across the interior cavity. The tuning member dimensions, stiffness and dampening characteristics are selected to alter the vibration behavior of the golf club head.

The present invention relates to a method for forming golf club head using metal injection molding and the resulting golf club head. The method of the invention allows for a lower volume of powdered metal than current metal injection molding processes thereby decreasing overall production cost.

Iron golf club head

A golf club head is disclosed. The golf club head includes a first body member and a second body member. The first body member includes a strike face and a top portion. The second body member is coupled to the first body member and extends away from the first body member in a direction opposite the strike face. At least a top portion of the second body member is camouflaged. A preferred method of camouflage is color differentiation, wherein the second body member is darker than the first body member. Specific color values and club head geometries are also disclosed and claimed.

A golf club head for an iron has a dual sole comprising first and second discontinuous surfaces which intersect along a diagonal line between the leading edge of the head at the toe and an intermediate point on a trailing edge of the head. The soles progressively taper from the long irons to the short irons so that the intersection of the diagonal line with the trailing edge is progressively closer to the toe. The head construction reduces weight in the toe and ground contact in the toe area, and moves the center of resistance toward the heel of the club. This reduces head droop and the tendency of the toe to dig into the ground, and, minimizes opening of the face at impact.

A set of golf iron clubs is disclosed that, through unique structural features, provides excellent playing characteristics and enhances a player's ability to play accurate shots. Each club in the set has a head with a face angle of at least 1/2.degree. and a concentration of mass formed within the head. Face angles decrease sequentially from the longest iron in the set to the shortest iron in the set, while the Concentrations of mass also vary sequentially in location from a high heel location in the longest iron to being disposed further toward a sole and toe location in the shortest iron. The face angles are preferably at least 1.degree., more preferably in the range of 1/2.degree. to 5.degree., and most preferably in the range of about 1.degree. to about 31/2.degree.. Also disclosed are the individual clubs in the set. The shaft grip of each club also incorporates a reminder for enabling a golfer to maintain the striking face in proper alignment with the golf ball.
