Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus for providing migration of cloud components across address domains without the overhead of sending traffic from prior sessions through an anchor. In particular, the networking control plane is decoupled from the packet forwarding data plane using a mobility enablement layer (MEL) that allows creating rules for forwarding elements (FEs) to forward traffic directed to an address within the proper address domain.

Method and apparatus for providing migration of cloud components across address domains

A video system is disclosed in which a single generic MPEG standard encoder (107) is used to simultaneously code and compress plural different resolution video signals from a single input video signal; and in which a single generic MPEG standard decoder (402) is used to simultaneously decode plural coded and compressed video signals of different resolutions and form a single composite video signal. The coder converts each frame of pixel data of the input video signal into plural frames having different resolutions, which are then combined into a common frame (106) for input to the generic MPEG encoder. The MPEG encoder produces a single coded and compressed output bitstream in slices of macroblocks of pixel data, which output bitstream is demultiplexed (108) into separate resolution bitstreams using Slice Start Code identifiers associated with each slice and Macroblock Address Increments associated with the first macroblock in each slice, to properly route each slice to the appropriate output. The decoder processes (405) the slices within the coded and compressed bitstreams of different resolutions received from plural sources using the Slice Start Codes and Macroblock Address Increments of each slice to produce a single composite bitstream of successive slices. By merging the slices from the plural sources into the composite bitstream in a predetermined manner, the generic MPEG decoder produces a digital output video signal that is a composite of the different resolution input video signals.

Multiple resolution, multi-stream video system using a single standard

A video system is disclosed in which a single generic MPEG standard encoder (107) is used to simultaneously code and compress plural different resolution video signals from a single input video signal; and in which a single generic MPEG standard decoder (402) is used to simultaneously decode plural coded and compressed video signals of different resolutions and form a single composite video signal. The coder converts each frame of pixel data of the input video signal into plural frames having different resolutions, which are then combined into a common frame (106) for input to the generic MPEG encoder. The MPEG encoder produces a single coded and compressed output bitstream in slices of microblocks of pixel data, which output bitstream is demultiplexed (108) into separate resolution bitstreams using Slice Start Code identifiers associated with each slice and Macroblock Address Increments associated with the first macroblock in each slice, to properly route each slice to the appropriate output. The decoder processes (405) the slices within the coded and compressed bitstreams of different resolutions received from plural sources using the Slice Start Codes and Macroblock Address Increments of each slice to produce a single composite bitstream of successive slices. By merging the shoes from the plural sources into the composite bitstream in a predetermined manner, the generic MPEG decoder produces a digital output video signal that is a composite of the different resolution input video signals.

Video image quality is preserved in an asynchronous network by providing a synchronizing arrangement in which the input of video data from an asynchronous network to a video data buffer is synchronized with the reading of information from the video data buffer. Synchronizing video data transfers to and from a video data buffer ensures that video data from only a single frame from a source is displayed on a display monitor at one time, thus maintaining image quality. Furthermore, multiple video data streams from several asynchronous sources can be displayed simultaneously on a single display screen using the synchronization technique. The synchronization arrangement synchronizes receipt of the different data streams into the frame buffer with the output of data from the frame buffer to the display screen.

Apparatus for synchronization and display of plurality of digital video

The described video communication system incorporates multiple window display. One or more video transmission nodes provide macroblocks of video data available in a plurality of resolution levels. The transmission node encodes the macroblocks and assigns macroblock identifiers (IDs) to each macroblock. A receiving node receives a plurality of video sequences from a plurality of transmission nodes through a communication network. The receiving node thereafter eliminates macroblocks of video data that will not be displayed, such as in the case of portions of video that are hidden or overlapped. A macroblock translator also transforms the macroblock ID to a new macroblock ID which reflects the macroblock's position on the display screen as dictated by the user's window configuration. A decoder thereafter decompresses the video data one macroblock at a time, and provides the decompressed macroblock to a frame buffer. The frame buffer provides the window configured video data to a display.
