Apparatus, devices and methods including apparatus for aftertreatment for a diesel engine, optionally including: a housing having an inlet, an outlet and defining a cavity therein; a plurality of tubes mounted within the cavity and arranged to define a multi-flow split arrangement to pass an exhaust flow of the diesel engine through each of the plurality of tubes; and a plurality of treatment units configured to treat the exhaust flow within the housing, wherein each of the plurality of treatment units is coupled within a corresponding one of the plurality of tubes to receive a portion of the exhaust flow. A number of the plurality of treatment units utilized to treat the exhaust flow within the housing is less than a number of the plurality of tubes such that at least one of the plurality of tubes does not contain one of the plurality of treatment units.

Diesel engine aftertreatment system

A method and system for treating engine exhaust gas of an engine system is disclosed. The method includes generating ammonia from a urea supply, supplying the ammonia to the engine exhaust gas upstream of a catalyst device, and supplying urea to the engine exhaust gas downstream of the supplying of the ammonia, and downstream of the catalyst device.

Engine aftertreatment system

An exhaust system for a diesel engine is provided. The exhaust system includes a component body with a surface, and a surface treatment disposed on some of the surface or all of the surface. The surface treatment is disposed so as to receive Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injected into the exhaust system during operation of the diesel engine. The surface treatment facilitates increased heat transfer to the received DEF to promote water evaporation and urea thermolysis of the received DEF.

A method for cleaning an exhaust filter system is provided. The method includes removing ash from a first end of the exhaust particulate filter system using compressed air from the second end of the exhaust particulate filter system. The method also includes entraining particles from a second end of the exhaust particulate filter system using low pressure air. The method further includes blowing ash from the first end of the exhaust particulate filter system using compressed air from the second end of the exhaust particulate filter system. The method further includes removing the entrained particles from the second end of the exhaust particulate filter system.

Method for cleaning exhaust filter system

An exhaust system including an upstream portion, a downstream portion, a service access, and a silica filter defines an exhaust gas flow path. The downstream portion includes an aftertreatment component. The service access is between the upstream portion and the downstream portion. The silica filter includes a silica filter element and a housing enclosing the silica filter element. The housing includes a filter gas inlet and a filter gas outlet, and defines a filter flow path through the silica filter element between the filter gas inlet and the filter gas outlet. The silica filter element is configured to filter silica from exhaust gases of the engine and structured to create a uniform distribution of silica throughout the silica filter element. The silica filter is configured to be removed and replaced through the service access. The exhaust gas flow path includes the filter flow path.

A method for testing a condition of a catalyst is provided. The method includes providing a gas source in communication with the catalyst. The method also includes passing compressed gas from the gas source over the catalyst at normal operating temperature. The method further includes invoking a reaction with the catalyst based on the passage of the compressed gas. The method includes measuring a performance of the catalyst based on the reaction.
