The present disclosure describes poly(styrene/acrylate)-polyester hybrid particles, wherein poly(styrene/acrylate) polymers are polymerized and entangled within a polyester seed particle in an interpenetrating polymer network.

Styrene/acrylate and polyester resin particles

A low energy consumption monochrome particle includes a core latex having a core a glass transition temperature and a weight average molecular weight. A shell encapsulates the core and includes a shell latex having a shell glass transition temperature and a weight average molecular weight. The glass transition temperature of the shell latex is higher than the glass transition temperature of the core latex. The weight average molecular weight of the shell latex is lower or higher than the weight average molecular weight of the core latex. The low energy consumption monochrome particles are suitable for high speed printing in SCD systems while decreasing minimum fusing temperature, maintaining excellent hot offset and storage, and exhibiting a matte finish.

Low energy consumption monochrome particle for single component development system

A toner is described containing low melt wax and having a core and shell, which toner exhibits improved fusing performance as compared to a toner produced with a high melt wax in the core; having a core resin with a Tequal to or lower than that of the shell resin; or both.

A low energy consumption monochrome toner includes a surface additive package having a high charging silica compound, an aerating silica compound, a colloidal silica compound, a polymeric spacer, and a crosslinked spacer. A process includes forming, by emulsion polymerization, polymer resin particles in a latex, the polymer resin particles being formed from a mixture including one or more monomer emulsions and a non-surfactant-based charge control agent, the emulsion polymerization is carried out with a solids content in a range from about 10 to about 30 percent by weight of the mixture, and forming toner particles from the polymer resin particles, the toner particles support a sufficient triboelectric charge for use under A-zone environmental conditions in a single-component development system.

A method of making toner particles includes forming a slurry by mixing together a first emulsion containing a resin, optionally a wax, optionally a colorant, optionally a surfactant, optionally a coagulant, and one or more additional optional additive, heating the slurry to form aggregated particles in the slurry, forming a second emulsion containing a monomer and a charge control agent, polymerizing the second emulsion to form a copolymer of the monomer and the charge control agent, and incorporating the copolymer into the toner particles, wherein the aggregated particles form a core of the toner particles.

Polymerized charge enhanced spacer particle

A process includes forming particles in a latex by emulsion polymerization of a mixture including one or more monomers in an emulsion, and about 4 percent or less by weight of the mixture of a non-surfactant-based charge control agent, the non-surfactant-based charge control agent is distributed within a matrix of the particles, and forming toner particles from the particles in the latex, the toner particles supporting a sufficient triboelectric charge for use under A-zone environmental conditions in a single-component development system.

A toner having charge control agents which impart excellent triboelectric charging characteristics. In embodiments, the toner particles are made by a process in which charge control agent is added and adhered to the particle surface through washing steps and is maintained through the drying steps. The process of the present embodiments impart desirable charging characteristics to the toner particles.

Efficient solvent-based phase inversion emulsification process with defoamer

The present disclosure provides polyesters suitable for use in forming toners. In embodiments, a polyester may be subjected to phase inversion emulsification, in which charge control agents are added so that the polyester emulsion includes charge control agents therein. The resulting polyester emulsion with charge control agents may then be utilized to form toner particles.
