Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for automated creation and delivery for generating output material. A customer record is generated in a customer database to include fields specifying at least one product, customer preferences, and a selected output method to deliver generated output material on the product specified in the customer record. At least one customer record in the customer database is received to process. A template including at least one query of a content database is processed. The at least one query included in the template using at least one value from the customer record is executed against the content database to access at least one content file. The content of each accessed content file is generated into the output material. A determination is made of a selected one of a plurality of delivery options from the customer record. The output material is transmitted via the determined delivery option to the customer specified in the customer record.

Workflow management system for generating output material based on customer input

Methods, systems, and apparatus for migrating a database of a workflow processing system from a current version to a new version by serializing the data into serialized objects and then deserializing the objects into the new version of the database. The current version of the database may include elements of data associated with base features and extension features of the workflow processing system. The new version of the database is initially generated to include only base features associated with a new version of the programmed instructions of the system. Deserializing the serialized objects into the new version of the database is effective to merge the object types of the information in the current version of the database into the object type of the new version of the database.

Disclosed is a method, system, and program for an automated creation and delivery system for generating customer output information. A customer record in a first database table is interactively generated to include fields specifying at least one product, preferences, and a selected output method to deliver output material on the product specified in the customer record. At least one customer record in the first database is received and at least one content file is accessed by processing a second database table using values in one received customer record. The content of each accessed file is then generated into the output material. A selected one of a plurality of delivery options is determined from the customer record and the output material is transmitted via the determined delivery option to the customer specified in the customer record.

Disclosed is a workflow management system for creating and delivering output material. A customer record is generated to include fields specifying at least one product, customer preferences, and a selected output method to deliver generated output material on the product specified in the customer record. A job record including a status field is added to a job status table for the customer record and set to a first status. A first worker generates output material from processing the product and customer preference fields in the customer record for the selected job, and sets the status for the selected job to a second status. A second worker determines a selected one of a plurality of delivery options from the customer record for the selected job and transmits the output material via the determined delivery option to the customer specified in the customer record.

Disclosed is a method, system, and program for processing a job in a workflow environment. A signal is generated when status for the job is changed from a first status to a second status. A work process associated with the second status is notified that one job had its status changed to the second status in response to the signal. The work process processes the job that had its status changed from the first status to the second status and modifies the status of the job after completing the processing of the job.

Method, system, and program for processing a job in an event driven workflow environment

The present invention concerns a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for selecting one of a plurality of printers attached to a server with a user interface installed on a computer networked to the server. The computer would first query a cache or the server for a first set of print options supported by at least one of the printers. The user interface is then updated to include the first set of print options. After the user interface program is used to select a print option from the first set, the computer then determines a second set of print options available with the previously selected print option. Each print option in the second set is supported by at least one of the printers that also supports the print option selected from the first set. The user interface program is then updated to include the second set of print options. After the user interface program is used to select a print option from the second set, the computer determines all the printers that support the user selected print options. After the user interface program is updated with the printers that support the user selected print options, the user interface can be used to select a printer that can handle the print job and user selected options.

Method for customizing print attribute choices based on selected model, media, and printer

The present invention concerns a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for creating a job ticket on a computer, wherein the job ticket includes information on components and print attributes of a print job. The created job ticket includes an identification record including information identifying the job ticket, a document record including information on a document included in the print job and print attributes for the document, and an item record including information on an item that is a component of the document and print attributes for the item. The item may be a print image file. The job ticket may further include a record including information on scheduling options for the print job. The item record is arranged in a lower hierarchical relationship to the document record such that the print attributes for the document apply to the item. After creating the job ticket, the present invention processes the job ticket and, then, transmits the processed job ticket to a printer. A GUI program may be installed on the computer used to create the job ticket. In such case, the user would use an input device, such as a mouse pointer and keyboard, to enter information in the job ticket records.

Method, system, and program for creating a job ticket inlcuding information on components and print attributes of a print job

The present invention discloses a system for organizing files associated with a job ticket, including raster image process (RIP) files. The files and job ticket are in a storage device attached to a computer system. The job ticket includes information on print files included in a print job, print file location information indicating a location of the print files in the storage device, and RIP file location information indicating a location of the RIP version of a print file in the storage device. The print files include data representing graphical images and the RIP version is generated from the print file. When the job ticket is submitted for printing, a RIP version is submitted in lieu of the print file if the RIP version was modified after the print file was modified. Any generated RIP versions may be saved in the storage device with their location indicated in the RIP file location information.

Method for organizing raster image processor files associated with a job

The system, method, and program of this invention allows a user to specify one of a plurality of print layout combinations. Upon specifying a specific combination, an animation, embedded in the graphical user interface and within the dialog for making the selection, shows the page layout and rotates the sheet, about the applicable axis of the sheet, from front to back to show how the selected page layout would appear. Numbers on the animated sheet are used to show the layout of sequential pages. Numbers are used instead of displaying specific page content. The animation gives a clear practical way of visually conveying to a user how a specified page layout combination would appear when printed.

System, method, and program for using animations to show page layout

The specification discloses a method for adjusting text in a word processing system when the insert mode is completed. An indicator is set to indicate a change active condition if a change is made to the current line of text when an establish insert mode key is depressed by the operator. The indicator is interrogated to determine if a change active condition has been indicated when a terminate insert mode key is later depressed by the operator. When a change active condition is detected, the line end codes for the current line of text are adjusted to provide an adjusted line. The adjusted line is then interrogated to determine whether a paragraph boundary or page end code is included. If no paragraph boundary or page end code is included, the adjusted line is interrogated to determine whether a change was made in the line end code. Each succeeding line following the adjusted line is adjusted until a paragraph boundary or page end code is encountered or no change in the line end code is made for that line.
