In one embodiment, an intervertebral implant includes a body and a locking element. The body includes a leading surface and a trailing surface opposite the leading surface. The body also includes first and second bone fastener passageways through the implant body and a cavity in between the first and second passageways. The cavity includes a trailing wall that separates the cavity from the trailing surface. The locking element is disposed in the cavity such that part of the locking element is visible through an access opening in the trailing wall so that the locking element may be rotated from outside of the implant. In a first rotational position, a first part of the locking element is located within one of the first and second passageways and in a second rotational position, the first part of the locking element is inside the body covered by the trailing wall.

A spine surgery modeling system simulates the spine with various vertebral body or disc conditions and allows a user to make adjustments and examine the three dimensional outcome of such adjustments. The spine surgery modeling system includes a spine model and a drive mechanism. The spine model has vertebral bodies and a disc space defined between adjacent vertebral bodies. The drive mechanism includes a worm gear, a worm, a rigid shaft, and a button. The worm engages the worm gear such that rotation of the worm causes rotation of the worm gear. The rigid shaft extends through a through hole defined in the worm and is configured to rotate the worm. The button is operatively engaged with the worm gear such that rotation of the worm gear causes movement of the button between collapsed and expanded states to change a height of the disc space.

Growing spine model

A spinal stabilization system includes a connecting rod, a rod bending device, and a plurality of bone screws. The connecting rod includes an elongate round portion, an elongate head portion and a neck portion connecting the elongate round portion with the elongate head portion. The rod bending device includes an elongate body defining an aperture configured and dimensioned to receive the connecting rod therethrough in a single orientation. The bone screws include a housing portion and a screw shaft distally extending from the housing portion. The housing portion includes an inner housing and an outer housing slidably surrounding at least a portion of the inner housing. The inner housing defines a slot configured and dimensioned to releasably secure the elongate round portion of the connecting rod therein. The outer housing is movable relative to the inner housing between an unlocked state and a locked state.
