A method for determining a route from a mesh network to an external network includes identifying route segments from a user equipment (UE) to the external network. The route segments comprise at least a first route segment from the UE to a first mesh access point (AP), a second route segment from the first mesh AP to the external network through a wide area cellular wireless network (WACWN), and a third route segment from the first mesh AP to the external network through an alternative network. The method further includes determining respective bandwidth of at least the first, second and third route segments and selecting the route based on the bandwidth of the first, second and third route segments, wherein the route comprises at least two of the route segments. The method also includes routing data between the UE and the external network via the selected route.

Link aggregation for mesh networks

A wireless transmitter includes a signal processing circuit configured to generate a plurality of first and second spatial streams signals. The transmitter includes a frequency shift circuit configured to selectively apply different frequency shifts to the first and second spatial streams signals. A wireless receiver includes a frequency shift circuit configured to selectively apply different frequency shifts to the received first and second spatial streams signals. The receiver also includes a signal processing circuit configured to process the first and second frequency shifted signals.

Systems and methods for bandwidth expansion and frequency scaling

A method, system and computer program product for computing a target distance estimate using a wireless device. A waveform is transmitted to an object (e.g., automobile) by a wireless device. Reflections of the waveform are then received, such as on two forward directional antennas. A channel impulse response (e.g., a frequency-domain channel impulse response) is then obtained from the reflections. A parameterized function is applied to the channel impulse response. Parameters of the parameterized function are fitted to measure the channel impulse response. A distance to the object is then estimated based on the fitted parameters. In this manner, by operating wireless devices as radar devices, a higher accuracy in target range estimates can be achieved with less spectrum bandwidth when compared to standard radar waveforms with standard radar processing. Furthermore, by utilizing wireless devices as opposed to radar devices, the cost problem associated with radar is addressed.

Determining distance to a target object utilizing wireless devices operating as radar devices

A method of wireless communication includes receiving a plurality of parameter values at a user equipment (UE) using a first local oscillator (LO) frequency value, where the plurality of parameter values includes indications of a downlink frequency channel and an uplink frequency channel. The method further includes determining a second LO frequency value at the UE, where the second LO frequency value is determined using the indications of downlink and uplink frequency channels. The method further includes receiving downlink signals from an associated base station using the second LO frequency value.

Signaling methods for communication systems with widely spaced downlink and uplink frequency channels

Methods and systems for channel mapping in a densely deployed network are disclosed. The system includes a node comprising a plurality of base stations configured to communicate with client devices in a wireless communication network, wherein transmission from the base stations to the client devices is conducted on a downlink (DL) frequency band and transmission from the client devices to the base stations is conducted on an uplink (UL) frequency band. The DL frequency band is different from the UL frequency band. DL and UL frequency pairs for the base stations are assigned according to a channel mapping scheme that determines DL and UL frequency pairs based on a plurality of channel parameters. The channel parameters include, for example, received signal strength indicator (RSSI), signal to noise (S/N) ratio, channel capacity, and bit error rate (BER).

A portable millimeter-wave wireless communications device relies on millimeter-wave spectrum for wireless communications. The millimeter-wave device may be a smart-phone, a laptop computer or a tablet computer. The millimeter-wave device may be a module that is added to an existing portable device such as a smart-phone, a laptop computer or a tablet computer to provide millimeter-wave communications capability. The module may be incorporated into a protective encapsulating case of such portable devices.

Portable millimeter-wave communications device

A wireless access point is configured to communicate in millimeter wave frequency bands in the downlink direction and in sub-6 GHz frequency bands in the uplink direction. The wireless access point includes a signal processing circuit configured to generate different spatial streams signals and a frequency shift circuit configured to apply different frequency shifts to the different spatial streams signals. The wireless access point includes a mixer driven by a local oscillator, which up-converts the frequency shifted signals to millimeter wave frequency band signals, wherein the millimeter wave frequency band signals are transmitted by a MIMO transmit antenna array. A wireless communication device applies different frequency shifts to the different spatial streams signals after down-converting the signals received at a higher millimeter wave frequency to a lower frequency below 6 GHz. The wireless communication device applies no frequency-shifts to different spatial streams signals transmitted at lower frequency below 6 GHz.

Methods and systems for correcting carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) in a wireless transceiver are disclosed. The method includes receiving a first predetermined number of data packets and analyzing the first predetermined number of data packets to determine one or more wireless link quality metrics. The method includes adjusting a local oscillator in accordance with a first local oscillator adjustment strategy. The method includes receiving a second predetermined number of data packets and analyzing the second predetermined number of data packets to determine the one or more wireless link quality metrics. The method includes repeating the first local oscillator adjustment strategy if the wireless link quality metrics improve. The method includes changing to a second local oscillator adjustment strategy if the wireless link quality metrics worsen and adjusting the local oscillator in accordance with the second local oscillator adjustment strategy.

Methods and systems for correction of carrier frequency offset (CFO) in wireless transceivers

Methods and systems for multiplexing downlink and uplink data on widely spaced frequencies are disclosed. The method of multiplexing downlink and uplink data packets for providing wireless broadband link between a base station and a plurality of client devices includes transmitting a first data packet by the base station to a first client device at a downlink frequency during a first time interval. The method includes receiving a second data packet by the base station from a second client device at an uplink frequency during a second time interval, wherein the base station concurrently transmits at least a portion of the first data packet to the first client device and receives at least a portion of the second data packet from the second client device, and wherein there is a wide separation between the downlink frequency and the uplink frequency.
