A computing device (e.g., a host computer in communication with a tablet input device) receives pen data corresponding to first and second positions of a pen device. The computing device compares the first and second positions to obtain an angle and an offset distance between the positions. The computing device selects a scrolling direction (either vertical or horizontal) based on the angle, with the selection being biased towards vertical scrolling. The computing device determines a number of scrolling events based on the offset distance, which may include comparing the offset distance with a preselected minimum distance. The computing device sends the scrolling events to an application executing on the computing device. The scrolling events cause the application to render scrolling in the selected scrolling direction. The pen data may include an indication of pen-down status and/or pen button activation to help determine whether to activate or terminate scrolling.

Relative pen scroll

A computing device receives electronic data generated by a touch-sensitive surface in response to a contact made with the touch-sensitive surface, and a tilt sensor detects a tilt angle of the touch-sensitive surface. The tilt angle is indicative of an angular displacement between a reference plane defined by the touch-sensitive surface in a reference position and a current plane defined by the touch-sensitive surface in a current position. A parameter or other aspect of an automated contact discriminating process is modified based at least in part on the detected tilt angle of the touch-sensitive surface. The contact discriminating process determines whether the contact made with the touch-sensitive surface is intentional or not intentional. In response to determining that the contact is intentional, the electronic data is accepted as valid input for further processing. In response to determining that the contact is not intentional, the electronic data is rejected for further processing.

Contact discrimination using a tilt angle of a touch-sensitive surface

A logic analyzer that performs analog-type measurements on digital data includes circuitry in its acquisition system that is programmable to search through acquired data to detect analog-type signal characteristics. In a first embodiment, the logic analyzer includes a graphical user interface employing a drag-and-drop operation to apply one or more selected analog-type measurements to selected portions of the digital data record. In a second embodiment, a user may designate a particular waveform or data listing by means of a mouse-click. Each of the choices of analog-type measurements can be represented by an icon, or text, or both icon and text. Some of the analog-type measurements, among others, are pulse width, duty cycle, period, frequency, period jitter, and cycle-to-cycle jitter
