A bearing system for a compressor including an unloader at least partially received within a recess of a driveshaft. The unloader includes an outer surface that is engaged with a bearing. An inner surface of the unloader is curved such that the unloader is pivotable relative to the driveshaft unload forces on bearing caused by deflection of the driveshaft.

A compressor includes a shell and a main bearing housing positioned within the shell. The main bearing housing includes a scroll assembly positioned within the shell and positioned relative to a first cavity of the main bearing housing, the scroll assembly includes a non-orbiting scroll, an orbiting scroll, and a cylindrical hub, and a coupling positioned between the orbiting scroll and a fixed component and movable relative to at least one of the orbiting scroll and the fixed component. A first seal may be positioned between the orbiting scroll and the coupling, a second seal may be positioned between the coupling and the main bearing housing, and a third seal may be positioned between the cylindrical hub and the main bearing housing, wherein the main bearing housing and the orbiting scroll define a pressure cavity.

A compressor includes a shell, a first compression member, a bearing housing and a second compression member. The first compression member is rotatable relative to the shell about a first axis. The bearing housing is coupled to the first compression member and rotatable relative to the shell about the first axis. The bearing housing includes a first pin that extends therefrom. The second compression member is rotatable relative to the shell about a second axis. The second compression member includes a base plate and an arcuate-shaped first pin pocket. The first pin pocket is formed in the base plate and receives the first pin. The first compression member is moveable between a first position in which the first pin is engaged with a surface of the first pin pocket and a second position in which the first pin is disengaged from the surface of the first pin pocket.

A driveshaft assembly for a compressor includes an unloader assembly and a driveshaft. The unloader assembly includes an unloader and a counterweight. The unloader assembly is rotationally supported by a bearing. The unloader includes a flank surface that is slidably engaged with a flank surface on the driveshaft.

Driveshaft assemblies and compressors including the same

A compressor includes a compression mechanism, a driveshaft, and a motor. The compression mechanism is configured to compress a fluid to a discharge pressure. The motor is configured to rotate the driveshaft. The driveshaft is engaged with the compression mechanism and is fixed to rotate with at least a portion of the compression mechanism. The driveshaft includes a longitudinal aperture configured to receive the fluid at a suction pressure, and includes a flange that receives at least a portion of the compression mechanism. The flange and the compression mechanism define a fluid passage therebetween. The fluid at suction pressure is received within the fluid passage from the longitudinal aperture in the driveshaft.

A compressor includes a compression mechanism, a motor, a drive shaft, and a motor cooler. The compressor is configured to compress a working fluid. The motor dives the compression mechanism and is housed within a motor housing. The drive shaft is engaged with the motor and the compression mechanism and is configured to drive operation of the compression mechanism. The motor cooler is disposed adjacent the motor and is configured to pump a cooling working fluid around the motor. The motor cooler includes a pump that pumps the cooling working fluid into the motor housing based on a rotational speed of the drive shaft.

A compressor includes a shell assembly, a compression mechanism and a suction fitting. The shell assembly defines a chamber. The compression mechanism is disposed within the chamber of the shell assembly and includes a suction inlet. The suction fitting is attached to the shell assembly and extends at least partially into the chamber of the shell assembly. The suction fitting defines first and second openings. The suction fitting directs working fluid through the first opening towards the compression mechanism and the suction fitting directs working fluid through the second opening away from the compression mechanism.

A compressor includes a shell, first and second scroll members, a fitting assembly and a valve assembly. The first scroll member includes a first end plate having a first spiral wrap extending therefrom. The second scroll member includes a second end plate having a second spiral wrap extending therefrom and an injection passage formed in the second end plate. The second spiral wrap is meshingly engaged with the first spiral wrap to form compression pockets. The injection passage is in fluid communication with the compression pockets. The fitting assembly is in fluid communication with the injection passage. The valve assembly coupled to one of the second scroll member and the fitting assembly and movable between a closed position in which fluid communication between the compression pockets and the suction chamber is prevented and an open position in which fluid communication between the compression pockets and the suction chamber is allowed.

A light-weight, high-strength insulating compressor component formed via additive manufacturing is provided. The component may have at least one interior region comprising a lattice structure that comprises a plurality of repeating cells. A solid surface is disposed over the lattice structure. The interior region comprising the lattice structure minimizes or reduces transmission of at least one of thermal energy, sound, or vibrational energy through the component. Methods of making such compressor components via additive manufacturing processes are also provided.

A compressor may include a shell, a first scroll, and a second scroll. The shell may include a first inlet, a second inlet, and an outlet. The first scroll may include a first end plate and a first spiral wrap. The second scroll may include a second end plate and a second spiral wrap, the first and second spiral wraps cooperating to define a series of moving compression pockets therebetween. The moving compression pockets decrease in volume as the moving compression pockets move from a radially outer position to a radially inner position. The moving compression pockets may receive working fluid from the first inlet at the radially outer position and provide working fluid to the outlet at the radially inner position. The second end plate may include a fluid cavity receiving working fluid from the second inlet and fluidly isolated from working fluid within the moving compression pockets.

A light-weight, high-strength compressor component having at least one fluid delivery feature that is formed via additive manufacturing is provided. The component may have at least one interior region comprising a lattice structure that comprises a plurality of repeating cells. A solid surface is disposed over the lattice structure. The interior region comprising the lattice structure has at least one fluid delivery feature for permitting fluid flow through the body portion of the light-weight, high-strength compressor component. The fluid delivery feature may be a flow channel, a fluid delivery port, a porous fluid delivery feature, or the like that serves to transfer fluids through the component, such as refrigerant and/or lubricant oils. Methods of making such compressor components via additive manufacturing processes are also provided.

Lattice-cored additive manufactured compressor components with fluid delivery features

A compressor may include first and second scroll members, first and second bearing housings, and a motor assembly. The first scroll member includes a first end plate and a first spiral wrap extending from the first end plate. The second scroll member includes a second end plate and a second spiral wrap extending from the second end plate and intermeshed with the first spiral wrap to define compression pockets therebetween. The first bearing housing supports the first scroll member for rotation about a first rotational axis. The second bearing housing may support the second scroll member for rotation about a second rotational axis that is parallel to and offset from the first rotational axis. The motor assembly may be disposed axially between the first and second bearing housings and may include a rotor attached to the first scroll member. The rotor may surround the first and second end plates.

A compressor may include first and second compression members, first and second bearing assemblies, a sensor, and processing circuitry. The second compression member cooperates with the first compression member to define a compression pocket. The first and second bearing assemblies rotatably support the first and second compression members, respectively. The first bearing assembly may include a bearing rotor and a bearing stator. The bearing stator may surround the bearing rotor and may include poles each having a winding. The sensor may measure a radial position of the bearing rotor relative to the bearing stator. The processing circuitry may be in communication with the sensor and may control electrical current supplied to the windings based on the radial position measured by the sensor to adjust the radial position of the bearing rotor relative to the bearing stator.
