A thermoplastic composition which may be unvulcanized or vulcanized is provided which comprises a polymer blend of an elastomeric thermoplastic engineering resin and a halogen-containing copolymer of a C to C isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene. A process for preparing a dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided.

Thermoplastic blend containing engineering resin

A thermoplastic composition which may be unvulcanized or vulcanized is provided which comprises a polymer blend of an elastomeric thermoplastic engineering resin and a halogen-containing copolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.7 isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene. A process for preparing a dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided.

A dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is provided which comprises a polymer blend of (a) a thermoplastic olefinic resin, such as non-elastomeric ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer; (b) an elastomeric ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer having a relatively higher vinyl acetate content; and (c) a specified elastomeric copolymer, such as halobutyl rubber, EPDM, or a halogenated copolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.7 isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene. Halogenated polyethylene may also be incorporated in the composition. The dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is suitable for adhesion to polyvinyl chloride.

Dynamically vulcanized alloys having two copolymers in the crosslinked

A dynamically vulcanized composition comprising a polyolefin resin and an elastomer is provided in which a major portion of fillers or specified additives are present in the polyolefin resin. A process for producing the dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided including the addition of the fillers and/or specified additives after the dynamic vulcanization step. The compositions have improved stiffness to impact balance.

Dynamically vulcanized alloys having improved stiffness/impact balance

Thermoplastic compositions of matter useful as gasketing materials as well as flexible boots and seals which are soft, have low compression set and high tensile. The compositions comprise a polyolefin resin and at least two different rubbers, one of which is vulcanized to a fully cured state by a cure systems which leaves the other rubber(s) unvulcanized. The preferred embodiment comprises a blend of polypropylene and ethylene vinylacetate as the polyolefin resin component, EPDM as the uncured rubber component and a ZnO cured halogenated butyl rubber. In another embodiment of the invention, the resin is excluded and the uncured rubber is a high crystallinity EPDM.

Dynamically cured thermoplastic olefin polymers

A dynamically vulcanized alloy composition having improved tensile strength including a first butyl or halogenated butyl rubber-base elastomer and a second EPM and/or EPDM elastomer in a matrix of a crystalline polyolefinic resin, and processes for producing the improved composition.

A dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is provided which comprises a polymer blend of a polyolefin resin, a halogenated elastomeric copolymer, such as a halogenated butyl rubber, or a halogenated copolymer of a C.sub.4 to C.sub.7 isomonoolefin and a para-alkylstyrene, and a halogenated polyethylene. The composition has improved flame retarding properties. Additional flame retarding additives may be incorporated in the composition. The dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic composition is suitable for use in roofing sheets.

A dynamically vulcanized composition is provided which comprises a polyolefin resin, an elastomer, and an ethylene copolymer resin such as a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate or an alkyl acrylate. A process for producing the dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided, which process includes the addition of the ethylene copolymer resin after the dynamic vulcanization step. The resulting composition comprises the ethylene copolymer resin predominantly in the polyolefin resin phase. The compositions have improved surface appearance and softness.

A process for preparing the dynamically vulcanized composition is also provided.

Thermoplastic compositions are prepared by blending an ethylene-hexene and/or an ethylene-butene copolymer resin, with a rubber and dynamically vulcanizing the rubber to form a heat-shrinkable dynamically vulcanized alloy of exceptionally low hardness, and great flexibility and elasticity. The preferred rubber is halogenated butyl rubber. Uncured rubber can be included in the composition.

Thermoelastic composition of ethylene-1-olefin copolymer and rubber

Thermoplastic compositions of matter useful as gasketing materials as well as flexible boots and seals which are soft, have low compression set and high tensile. The compositions comprise a polyolefin resin and at least two different rubbers, one of which is vulcanized to a fully cured state by a cure system which leaves the other rubber(s) unvulcanized. The preferred embodiment comprises a blend of polypropylene and ethylene vinylacetate as the polyolefin resin component, EPDM as the uncured rubber component and a ZnO cured halogenated butyl rubber. In another embodiment of the invention, the resin is excluded and the uncured rubber is a high crystallinity EPDM.

Heat shrinkable thermoplastic compositions are prepared by blending an ethylene copolymer resin with an EPDM rubber and dynamically vulcanizing the rubber. The ethylene copolymer resin is a copolymer of ethylene with an alkyl ester of an alpha, beta monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid as well as copolymers of ethylene with the acid per se. The preferred copolymer is ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer. Uncured rubber can be included in the composition.

Thermoplastic olefin compositions of EPDM rubber and ethylene copolymer

Soft, resilient thermoplastic compositions with good physical strength useful as molded parts including hoses, seals and gaskets which exhibit good flow and good surface characteristics in injection molded parts. The compositions comprise ethylene copolymer resin (e.g., ethylene vinyl acetate), halogenated butyl rubber and polychloroprene wherein the rubbers have been dynamically vulcanized to a fully cured state in the presence of the ethylene copolymer resin.
