The present invention is an applicator barrel with a taped finger grip. The applicator barrel includes a barrel body having an outer surface. A three-dimensional tape is connected to a portion of the outer surface and includes a first surface and a second surface opposite said first surface. The first surface has at least one integrally formed gripping structure extending outwardly from the first surface to provide a gripping surface, and the second surface is adhesive to connect the tape to the barrel.

Tampon applicator with taped finger grip

A tampon applicator is provided that comprises a tubular barrel adapted to house a pledget and a telescoping plunger adapted to expel the pledget out of the barrel. A portion of the applicator has a fingergrip area with at least one multi-directional gripping structure to enhance the gripping characteristics of the applicator. The multi-directional gripping structure allows the user to securely hold the applicator during insertion of the applicator into the vagina, expulsion of the pledget from the barrel of the applicator, and removal of the applicator from the vagina.

Tampon applicator with improved fingergrip

A tampon applicator has a barrel and a plunger telescopically mounted within the barrel. In a preferred embodiment, one or both of the barrel and plunger is made of a water dispersible material, and is exposed to a source of infrared radiation to minimize surface stickiness on initial contact with moisture. In an alternative embodiment, the barrel or plunger can be coated with a water dispersible material prior to exposure to infrared radiation.

Infrared treated tampon applicators

There is provided a method for post forming an assembled tampon assembly into a curved tampon assembly. Before employing this method, the tampon assembly is completely formed using existing manufacturing methods into a typical straight axial oriented tampon assembly. The tampon assembly is then heated to permit flexing and reorientation of the axis of one or more portions of the tampon assembly. Next, the heated tampon assembly is positioned in a mold cavity of a cold forming mold. The inner surface of one or more portions of the mold cavity has a desired arcuate shape or axial orientation in order to obtain a desired predetermined radius of curvature. Thereafter, the tampon assembly is held in the mold until the various components of the tampon assembly cool down. Finally, the cooled tampon assembly is removed from the mold and is ready to be packaged for distribution.

Post formed curved tampon assembly

A two piece compactly packaged application for a tampon which includes a discrete first member and a discrete second member, the first and the second members being of comparable length. The first and the second members are initially packaged in a side by side manner. The applicator also includes a plurality of spaced apart tabs on either the first member or the second member for retaining one of the first and the second members in the other of the first and the second members when the members are assembled together in their operative position. The method assembly of the applicator includes grasping one of the first and the second members, manually aligning the first and the second members and axially moving the first and the second members together so that the first and the second members slide relative to each other and are maintained telescopically in operative position.

Compact tampon applicator

There is provided a wrap for a tampon applicator having a first member and a second member. The wrap includes a hollow body for containing the tampon applicator therein, and a score line located at a predetermined position on the body to separate the body into two discrete portions in the vicinity of the junction of the first and the second members of the tampon applicator.

Tampon applicator wrap

A voided polypropylene film tampon wrap having end seals which are formed by mechanical crimping and a process for sealing the ends of the voided polypropylene film tampon wrap by mechanical crimping. A notch is formed adjacent to each end seal but remote from the enclosed tampon. Each end seal is formed by a pair of horizontal teeth wheels each having a pitch of 50 teeth per inch. One of the pair of wheels is heated to a temperature of 125.degree..+-.15.degree., and force is applied to at least one wheel to seal that end of the wrap by the pair of wheels.
