A loading machine for feeding a receiver includes, but is not limited to, a drum cam that is configured to rotate. The drum cam includes, but is not limited to, a first cam path, and a second cam path. A rammer subassembly is positioned proximate the drum cam. The rammer subassembly includes, but is not limited to, a first member that is configured to engage the first cam path and to move longitudinally with respect to the drum cam upon a rotation of the drum cam, and a second member that is configured to telescopically engage the first member and further configured to engage the second cam path and telescopically move with respect to the first member upon the rotation of the drum cam.

There is described an optical assembly. In one aspect, the optical assembly can be used in an optical reader. In another aspect, the optical assembly can include a support for supporting various components.

The invention provides for a transport system and method of using the transport system. The transport system may include a transport track; and a platform assembly that transports along the transport track, the platform assembly including (1) a cargo platform; and (2) a pair of drive pinion trucks mounted on opposing sides of the cargo platform, each drive pinion truck engaged with the transport track for movement along the transport track. The drive pinion trucks may be provided with a leveling system to provide leveling of the cargo platform during operation.

A low profile optical unit for use in a 2D bar code reader. A vertically disposed light redirecting panel having contoured reflective openings therein is mounted in the front of the unit and an LED behind the panel. Light emitting diodes for illuminating a target are mounted on the LED board behind the contour openings whereby direct light and reflected light illuminates a target. An imager housing is mounted on the back of the LED board and contains a recess that passes through the back of the housing and a lens barrel that extends forward through holes provided in the LED board and the light redirecting panel. An imager board is secured to the back of the housing which holds a 2D imager that is contained within the housing recess. Circuitry for generating image data signals is mounted on the back of the imager board. A lens holder is threadably mounted in the lens barrel which contains a lens system having a short back focal length for focusing a target image on the imager.
