A holder for storing ribbed vacuum cleaner hoses and associated vacuum cleaner tubes that includes a pair of support members mounted on a support, each support member having one or more ribs to engage the corrugated surface of the hose.

A rotary flail feeding device for trimming vegetation includes a head for storing flail line and a unitary, removable subassembly comprising a winding post and a line guide ring rotatably mounted on the post. The subassembly is removed from the head to facilitate loading flail line into the cavity and to assure that dual flail lines are properly positioned when the subassembly is repositioned on the head.

A holder for storing ribbed vacuum cleaner hoses that includes a pair of support members mounted on a support, each support member having one or more ribs to engage the ribbed surface of the hose. The ribs include a lip that prevents displacement of the hose away from the support.

A holder for vacuum cleaner tools includes a flat plastic body mounted on a wall or between exposed studs on a wall with a panel bowed outwardly from the wall. The panel has a plurality of upwardly extending fingers to receive and hold vacuum cleaner tools.

A vacuum cleaner includes a housing having a housing passage with a passage inlet, air entering through the passage inlet flowing in a first direction and the housing passage directing air flowing therethrough in a second direction which is more than 90 degrees different from the first direction. The vacuum cleaner also includes a blower adapted to be used separately from the vacuum cleaner, the blower having a blower housing with a blower inlet, a blower outlet, and defining a blower passage between the blower inlet and the blower outlet, an impeller disposed in the blower passage to move air between the blower inlet and the blower outlet and a motor mounted to the blower housing and coupled to the impeller to move the impeller. The blower is detachably secured to the housing with the blower outlet disposed in communication with the passage inlet.

A pump has a housing defining a pump chamber and having a shaft opening. An impeller shaft extends through the shaft opening and is sized to define a gap between the impeller shaft and the shaft opening. An impeller is attached to the shaft inside the pump chamber. The impeller includes a first set of impeller blades for transporting fluid through the pump chamber and a second set of impeller blades for creating a pressure force which pushes fluid away from the shaft opening. The pump with sealless shaft prevents fluid from leaking through the gap, and therefore is particularly suited for use in a tank-type vacuum cleaner capable of collecting both dry material and fluid. The gap is used in such an application to prime the pump, thereby discharging fluid collected in the tank.

A convertible blower port for a vacuum cleaner includes a cylindrical port wall carried by a portion of a vacuum cleaner. The port wall has a first end facing inwardly toward the vacuum cleaner and a second end opposite the first end. The port wall defines a blower passage in communication with the plenum of the vacuum cleaner. A blower port outlet is provided on the second end of the port wall. A removable cap closes off the blower port outlet and has an exterior surface for gripping the cap and has a hub configured to fill the blower passage. The hub has a substantially smooth inner end face that is positioned generally across the first end of the port wall and faces the plenum of the vacuum cleaner.

A wheel mounting system for a wet/dry vacuum cleaner is disclosed. A system provides a wet/dry vacuum cleaner base having a plurality of mounting surfaces extending therefrom. First and second wheels are mounted to first and second stub shafts which are inserted through at least two of the plurality of bearing surfaces and secured thereto using set screws. Flanges on outer ends of the stub shafts secure the wheels between the flanges and wheel wells extending from the base of the vacuum cleaner. A reinforcing shaft can be telescopingly received within the first and second stub shafts in order to enable the vacuum cleaner base to support relatively heavy loads.

A vacuum cleaner includes a driven impeller that moves working air for the vacuum cleaner. A first housing includes a first wall and a second housing includes a second wall opposite the first wall, and an outlet for the working air. The impeller rotates and draws the working air through an opening and directs the working air radially outwardly toward the first wall and then through an annular passage formed between the first wall and the second wall. The annular passage restricts the flow of working air to provide back pressure on the impeller.

A two flail rotary flail feeding device includes a head having an annular line storage cavity, a central post and an annular line feeding passage extending from the cavity to the end of the post. Two flail lines are wound in the cavity, extend through the passage and are wound in a coil around the post. The ends of the flail lines extend outwardly from the post to form flails. Adjacent flail lines wound around the post are connected to each other and move together during lengthening of the flails.

A vacuum cleaner has an electric motor driving an air impeller for creating a low pressure and a pump which draws liquid material through an inlet tube from the bottom of a tank and expels it from the tank. A priming apparatus is provided for priming the pump impeller. An outlet of the pump is connected to a discharge outlet carried by an upper vacuum assembly. Outlet piping connects the pump outlet to the discharge outlet. A pinch valve selectively closes the outlet piping to allow the priming apparatus to prime the pump. The pump and outlet piping are preferably carried by the upper vacuum assembly to facilitate conversion of the vacuum cleaner between wet and dry pick-up.

A swivel coupling for attachment to a hose. The swivel coupling comprises a sleeve defining an aperture sized to received a retainer clip. The hose is formed with convolutions so that the retainer clip may be attached to the hose. When the hose is inserted into the sleeve, the retainer clip may be inserted into the aperture to secure the hose against axial movement yet the allow the hose to swivel.

A fitting for a vacuum cleaner is disclosed. The fitting includes a retainer having first and second grooves within which a fitting is adapted to slide. The fitting includes a plate from which a cylinder extends and terminates in a radially inwardly directed deflector. Depending upon the orientation of the fitting within the retainer, the incoming fluid stream is directed in an upward or downward direction to thereby facilitate usage of the fitting with or without a vacuum bag, while at the same time minimizing the potential for splashing and expulsion of liquid drawn into the vacuum cleaner.

A vacuum cleaner capable of collecting wet or dry media includes a hose having an inlet end and an outlet end that is coupled to the vacuum cleaner. A motor is supported by a portion of the vacuum cleaner and applies a vacuum to the outlet end of the vacuum hose. A media inlet is positioned near the inlet end of the vacuum hose. An air intake for admitting air into the vacuum hose is provided near the media inlet. The air intake can be adapted to receive a detachable separate device in order to provide an air intake that is remotely positioned from the media inlet. Alternatively, the air intake can be provided on an attachment to or an integral part of the vacuum hose for providing the air intake at a remote distance from the media inlet. A distal end of the vacuum hose is immersed in a liquid to be collected so that the media inlet is immersed in the liquid and so that the air intake is exposed to a source of air. A vacuum is applied to the vacuum hose to collect the liquid through the media inlet while air is simultaneously drawn via the air intake into the vacuum hose and mixed with the collected liquid to increase the liquid lift height capability of the vacuum cleaner.
