Exemplary methods and systems for facilitating SMS data transfer services in mobile devices are described. An exemplary method includes sending a first SMS message to a device with a payload of the first SMS message including machine-readable information. Next, a second SMS message may be received from the device with a payload of the second SMS message including machine-readable information. The first or second SMS message payloads may include, for example, a synchronization message, a call message, call data, or a scheduling message.

Short message service (SMS) data transfer

A system, in which a server is connected to a group of voicemail servers, is provided. A first voicemail server provides voicemail services to landline telephone devices. A second voicemail server provides voicemail services to wireless telephone devices. The server receives information regarding a first voicemail intended for a user of a user device, receives information regarding a second voicemail intended for the user of the user device, aggregates the information regarding the first voicemail and the information regarding the second voicemail as aggregated information, and sends the aggregated information to the user device.

Aggregated multi-number visual voicemail server

A set of servers connect to a group of voicemail systems and to a group of client access points. The set of servers may receive a request to perform a transaction relating to a voicemail mailbox of a particular voicemail system; cause the transaction to be performed with regard to the voicemail mailbox of the particular voicemail system; and receive a notification that the transaction was performed with regard to the voicemail mailbox of the particular voicemail system. The set of servers may perform synchronization processes to synchronize the client access points with regard to the transaction that was performed with regard to the voicemail mailbox of the particular voicemail system, where each of the client access points contains a same view of the voicemail mailbox as a result of the synchronization processes.

Synchronizing voicemail among multiple client access points

A network device may include a memory to store an aggregate database. The aggregate database may store aggregate voicemail message information, the aggregate voicemail message information including voicemail message information associated with a first device number and voicemail message information associated with a second device number. The network device may include a receiver to receive, over a network, updated voicemail message information associated with the first device number and stored in a first database different from the aggregate database, and to receive, over the network, updated voicemail message information associated with the second device number and stored in a second database different from the first database and the aggregate database. The network device may include a processor to update the aggregate voicemail message information stored in the aggregate database based on the received updated voicemail message information associated with the first device number and based on the received updated voicemail message information associated with the second device number. The network device may include a transmitter to send the updated aggregate voicemail message information to a user device associated with the first device number.

Multiple visual voicemail mailboxes

A system may include a load balancer that includes a receiver configured to receive a first notification of voicemail message information associated with a voicemail mailbox. The system may also include a group of servers and each of the group of servers may include a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver may be configured to receive the first notification of the voicemail message information from the load balancer, and the transmitter may be configured to send a second notification of the voicemail message information to a communication device associated with the voicemail mailbox, wherein the second notification causes the communication device to determine whether to request a list of voicemail messages. The load balancer may also include a processor to select a first one of the plurality of servers and a transmitter to send the first notification to the first one of the plurality of servers.

Visual voicemail network architecture

Methods and apparatus for controlling and retrieving messages from multiple voice mail systems used by a single individual are described. A voice messaging retrieval and forwarding (VMRAF) system checks a subscriber's voice message systems for messages, retrieves the messages and forwards them to the subscriber as attachments to E-mail files. E-mail replay messages are used to control deleting of the messages from the original systems. Prompt messages played to callers by different voice messaging systems before they leave a message can be updated automatically. This is done by indicating to the VMRAF system when one or more prompt messages are to be updated and which messages, from a set of prerecorded messages, are to be loaded into the voice message systems to replace the existing prompt messages. Accordingly, the VMRAF system facilities message retrieval and the updating of prompt messages, e.g., on a preselected schedule or at preselected times.
