A roller shade material, such as 100% polyester, is passed through a bath, so that both sides of the material are coated by the bath. In a preferred embodiment, the bath includes an acrylic polymer finish, and a melamine-formaldehyde cross-linking agent. The acrylic polymer preferably is approximately 45% solid, and comprises about 47% to 48% of the bath by weight. The cross-linking agent preferably comprises about 2.5% of the bath by weight, and is about 80% solid material. The bath should have a pH in the basic range between about 7 and 9.5, and the preferred base used to adjust the pH is N,N-Diethylethanolamine. Optional compounds that may be added to the bath include an anti-stick compound and a defoaming agent. This treatment produces a roller shade having a clear coating that allows the color, texture and weave of the substrate to show, without hindering the ability of light to pass through the material. Further, and more importantly, the coating provides dimensional stability for the roller shade, which reduces or eliminates the tendency of the material to distort by bowing, cupping, or cambering, and preserves the hand and feel of the product.

Roller shade treatment and method

A coated base fabric for use in an automotive airbag is provided. The coated base fabric includes a substrate of woven nylon or polyester which is overcoated with a porosity blocking layer of a cross-linked elastomeric resin. Such a resin may be, without limitation, selected from the group consisting essentially of polyamide, butyl rubber, EPDM, polyurethane, hydrogenated NBR, acrylic rubbers, and mixtures thereof. The porosity blocking layer of polyamide material is present at a coating weight of between about 0.1 and 0.5 ounces per square yard. Furthermore, the resin may be present as either a latex or in solution with an organic solvent or solvents. A method for producing the coated fabric of the present invention is also provided.

A coated base fabric for use in an automotive airbag is provided. The coated base fabric includes a substrate of woven nylon or polyester which is overcoated with a porosity blocking layer of polyamide material. The porosity blocking layer of polyamide material is present at a level of about 0.6 ounces per square yard or less. A method for producing the coated fabric of the present invention is also provided.

A three-ply incontinence pad sewn together at the edges thereof. The plies consist basically of (1) a pile terry circular knit upper ply bonded to a (2) nonwoven soaker ply which are sewn to a bottom ply constituted by a woven fabric on which is laminated or coated a thermoplastic film to act as a barrier.

A method is disclosed for patterning a textile substrate by treating the substrate surface in a pattern configuration, for example, using heated air streams, to allow a later-applied solvent to extract dye from the treated areas at a faster rate than from untreated areas. A patterned product is also disclosed.

High contrast patterning process and product for disperse dyed polyester

A single, uniform application of dye is employed to generate a pattern dyed substrate wherein the pattern and pattern-complementary areas are dyed by the same dye, but at different levels of fixation. Dye is uniformly applied to the substrate, and optionally dried, without fixation. Heat is applied to the substrate uniformly as well as selectively in a pattern configuration. The uniform heating serves to fix the dye in the pattern-complementary areas at a pre-determined level. Selective heating in pattern areas serves to fix the dye at a higher level of concentration in pattern areas than is found in the pattern-complementary areas, resulting in a multi-tone effect. Optionally, the heating in pattern areas may be sufficient to cause shrinkage or other thermally-induced physical modification to the substrate, in perfect registry with the pattern-dyed areas.

Process for heat treating textile substrates to give a colored pattern

An improved cylindrical printing screen having aperatures located such that their geometric centers define an array of equilateral triangles each having one side which defines a 15 degree angle with respect to the circumferential direction, another side which defines a 15 degree angle with respect to the longitudinal direction and a third side which defines a 45 degrees angle with respect to both the circumferential and longitudinal directions of the cylinder is disclosed.
