A drive train for installation in a vehicle chassis includes a power source, two motor/generators (M/Gs), an array of batteries, and a control system for configuring the drive train to operate using only the power source, only the batteries or a combination of the power source and batteries. The control system may open or close clutches to configure the drive train with each M/G working as a motor or a generator. A M/G working as a motor may use power from the batteries to supply rotational power to drive the vehicle or operate accessories on the vehicle. A M/G working as a generator coupled to a power source generates electric power for charging the array of batteries. The vehicle, including components and subsystems, may be powered electrically from the batteries or powered from the engine.

Drive train configurations for a vehicle agnostic to a power source

An electric drivetrain for installation in a vehicle chassis. A generator coupled to an engine generates electric power for charging an array of batteries. The vehicle, including components and subsystems, may be powered electrically from the batteries, allowing the engine and generator to be easily replaced or customized for an industry, geographic region, fuel type, or a set of emission requirements. A thermal management system may determine a battery temperature for the set of batteries and cause one or more of a coolant system, a refrigerant system, an exhaust gas system or an ambient air heat exchanger to add heat to the set of batteries or transfer heat away from the set of batteries.

Thermal management system for range extender vehicle

The present invention provides an arcuate ring guard for a conventional lawn trimmer having a string-type cutting blade, which rotates in a planar cutting circle, and an arcuate housing covering the rearward region of the cutting circle but having an open front potion. The ring guard is fastened at each end to opposite sides of the trimmer housing, forwardly of and outside the periphery of the blade's cutting circle, so that the trimmer housing and the ring guard together extend 360 degrees around the periphery of the cutting circle. In the preferred embodiment, the ring guard occupies a uniform arc about the cutting blade's axis of rotation, coplanar with the blade's cutting circle.

Guard for a string-type lawn trimmer

A cooking device includes a cooking vessel, means for heating the contents of the cooking vessel, control means for controlling the temperature and viscosity of the contents of the cooking vessel, and an auger for stirring and dispensing the contents of the cooking vessel. The auger rotates in a first direction to mix the contents of the cooking vessel. When the food product is being dispensed, the auger reverses direction to push the food contents through the dispensing valve.

Apparatus for cooking grits and hot cereal mixtures

A mobile positionable service bench 20 comprising of a square U-configured base 22 and a vertical mast structure 56 mounted upright on a square U-configured base 22. A winch 68 mounted on vertical mast structure 56 and a cable 66 connected thereto and to the elevator assembly 75 is operable to raise and lower tool tray 105. Elevator assembly 75 is equipped with dollies 78a, 79a, 80a and 81a to maintain alignment and facilitate travel and load carrying capabilities. Tray support arms 97 will pivotally mount to elevator assembly 75 and provide lateral positioning capabilities of tool tray 105. Light bracket 121 on tool tray 105 will accept the stem base of light fixture 123 to illuminate the work area. Air chucks 161a, 161b, 161c and 161d and electric outlet box 152a, 152b, 152 c, and 152d provide outlets for either pneumatic or electrical tools. Safety brake yoke 76 and safety brake arms 86 and 87 provide a fail-safe mechanism to guard against the sudden drop of elevator assembly 75 due to the sudden failure of cable 66.

Positionable service bench

An apparatus and method for determining the position of a movable element. An elongated housing is provided for positioning generally adjacent an edge of an area in which the position of the movable element is to be determined. The housing has a base portion which contains a pair of spaced-apart transducers that are mounted in the surface of the base portion and face the area. An upper body portion of the housing is disposed above the base portion and protrudes in cantilevered fashion toward the area, so that the transducers are recessed from the area beneath the protruding upper body portion of the housing. Circuitry is provided for determining the position of the movable element from the respective transit times of energy propagating in either direction between the movable element and the pair of transducers.

Position determining apparatus

The disclosure is directed to an apparatus and method for determining the travel time of acoustic energy over an unknown travel distance between an acoustic transmitter and an acoustic receiver. This information can be used, for example, to determine the position of a moveable element in a data space. A timer is initiated at the time of acoustic transmission from the transmitter. A control signal generator is provided, and is initiated at the time of acoustic transmission from the transmitter, the control signal being a function of the time which elapses after the time of acoustic transmission. The gain of the signal received at the receiver is controlled in accordance with the control signal. The timer is terminated when the gain-controlled received signal exceeds a predetermined threshold. Apparatus and method for distance determination

A form of the disclosed invention employs data validation and screening based on the proximity of sequentially measured data points. Another form of the invention detects noisy conditions manifested in a pilot signal measurement, and discards data taken just after (and/or, if desired, just before) detection of the condition.

Method and apparatus for position determination

An apparatus is disclosed for determining the position of a moveable element in a three-dimensional workspace near a mounting surface. A sound source is provided in the moveable element. A plurality of at least three housing units are adapted to be secured to said mounting surface in spaced relationship to one another. A sound sensor is mounted on each of the units, and a sound source is mounted on at least some of the units. The positions of the sound sensor and the sound source of said at least some of the units can be adjusted. Means are provided which are responsive to the sound from the sound source of at least one of the units and received at the sound sensor of another of the units, for computing the distance between the sound source of said one of the units and the sound sensor of said another of said units. Also, means which are responsive to the initiation of sound from the sound source of the moveable element and to sound received at the sound sensors of the units, are provided for determining the three-dimensional position of the moveable element. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of units comprises four units, and each of the units has a sound source mounted thereon. Also in this embodiment, means are provided for determining the distance between the sound source of any one of the units and the sound sensor of any other one of the units as a function of sound emitted by the sound source of said any one of the units and received by the sound sensor of said any other one of the units. Each of the units also includes means for adjusting the position of the sound source and the sound sensor in two substantially orthogonal directions.
