The invention relates to a mask for administering oxygen or other breathable gas to the nose and mouth of a patient. The invention relates to improvements in gas delivery masks, and specifically an improved diffuser structure which is particularly suitable for use in an open mask system, in which the mask body includes substantial openings that allow the user to freely converse, drink, and perform other functions. The improvements also relate to a rebound chamber within the diffuser body spaced apart from the gas conduit outlet, the rebound surface being configured to rebound and reverse the direction of flow of at least a substantial portion of the gas stream exiting the outlet from the forward direction to a rearward direction towards the user's face.

We disclose a mask for administering a breathable gas to a patient, which comprises a mask body and a gas flow disrupter joined to the mask body for generating a turbulent gas plume rearwardly towards the nose and mouth of the patient. The mask body is configured to position the flow disrupter so as to be spaced from and opposing the patient's nose and mouth region when the mask is worn by the patient. The mask includes a gas inlet for admitting gas from an external source into the mask interior, through the gas flow disrupter. The gas flow disrupter can be configured to generate a turbulent gas plume wherein the velocity of gas exiting the disrupter is approximately the same as the gas velocity entering the mask from the gas inlet.

A sport shoe having an upper, a sole having at least an outer sole having a mobile portion at least at the heel portion of the sole which is pivotable about a lateral axis forward of the heel portion. A midsole insert member is insertable between the mobile portion and the upper. The mobile portion includes upper engaging projections cooperating with the upper to prevent the midsole insert from moving laterally relative to the upper when the midsole insert member is introduced between the mobile portion and the upper.

A sole member for an article of footwear, comprises a sheet of resilient material displaying cushioning and memory properties. The sheet has a generally longitudinal cavity with outwardly flared sidewalls that deflect horizontally in the presence of a downward force. The cavity is wider in the heel region and curves outwardly toward the lateral forefoot to create a path of least resistance that causes the center of mass of the human body to migrate laterally and thereby reduce predisposition to excessive pronation.

A sole for an article of footwear, such as an athletic shoe, comprises a mass of sole-forming material having provided therein a block of material functioning harmoniously with the remaining mass of material and providing a receptacle in the sole; and a user-selectable, removable insert fitted in the receptacle to impart desired energy characteristics to the sole. The insert can be selected by the user according to his particular needs.
