A flow sensor for flowing media with a cylindrical housing () and with a sensor element located in the housing (), the housing () preferably having an outside thread () and being screwable into a union () of a pipe () or into an opening of a connecting piece (). The flow sensor () has very high measurement accuracy while still being economically producible. There is a lifting body () which projects into the flowing medium, the lifting body () being movably guided on the housing () and depending on the flow () of the medium to be monitored, can be moved against the reset force of a reset element which is located between the housing () and the lifting body (), and the sensor element is made as a noncontact proximity switch () which produces a signal that is dependent on the position of the lifting body ().

Flow sensor

An electrical unit including a proximity switch and a cable terminal part the proximity switch has an outside housing and an insulation part, the insulation part being on the end face of the outside housing and the insulation part having a terminal element with terminals which lead to the outside. The terminals of the terminal element lead to the outside are made as terminal sockets, the cable terminal part has a cable and a connecting part, the cable being attached in the connecting part, the connecting part being attached to the insulation part and the ends of the wires of the cable are connected in an electrically conductive manner to the terminal sockets of the terminal element.

Unit consisting of a proximity switch and a cable terminal part and a process for its manufacture

An electronic, proximity-type switching device with a first switching device terminal (,), a second switching device terminal (,), a sensor and evaluation circuit (,) which contains an externally influenceable proximity indicator and an operating voltage supply circuit for making available the internally required operating voltage (&equals; internal operating voltage) and with an electronic switch (,) which is controllable by the sensor and evaluation circuit (,), for example, a switching transistor, the sensor and evaluation circuit (,), on the one hand, and the electronic switch (,), on the other, being connected essentially in parallel and to the first switching device terminal (,) and the second switching device terminal (,). To enable the switching device to be used as a normal 2-wire switching device and also as a 3-wire switching device, there is a third switching device terminal (,) and there are a current rise (,) which is active in the conductive state of the switching device and/or a voltage drop or limitation (,) which is active in the blocked state of the switching device between the second switching device terminal (,) and the third switching device terminal (,).

Electronic, preferably proximity-type, switching device

A heat transmission measuring instrument, namely a flow monitor for electric detection of heat losses in a flowing medium has a metal, circular-cylindrical measuring instrument housing (1) provided with an external thread (2), having a first temperature measuring element (3), having at least one heating element (4) and having a second temperature measuring element (5), wherein the first temperature measuring element (3), at least one heating element (4) and the second temperature measuring element (5) are applied to one side of a substrate foil (6) that is a good electrical insulator and a good thermal conductor, and the substrate foil (6) is put into thermally conductive contact with the measuring instrument housing (1) with its side remote from the temperature measuring elements (3, 5) and the heating element (4), at least in the regions in which the temperature measuring elements (3, 5) and the heating element (4) are applied. The manufacture of the flow monitor shown is simplified by providing that a plastic holder (11) adapted to the inside diameter of the measuring instrument housing (1) is provided, and the substrate foil (6) is disposed between the plastic holder (11) and the measuring instrument housing (1).

Heat transmission measuring instrument, in particular flow monitor

A heat transfer measurement device, in particular a flow monitor for the electrical measurement of heat losses in a flowing medium, with a metallic, circular cylindrical measurement device housing having an outside thread, with a first temperature measurement element, a heating element and a second temperature measurement element. The flow monitor in accordance with the invention is on the one hand quick in a thermal sense and can be manufactured relatively simply on the other. This is because the first temperature measurement element, the heating element and the second temperature measurement element are disposed on one side of a carrier foil which is a good electrical insulator as well as a good conductor of heat and in that the carrier foil is brought into thermally conductive contact with the measuring device housing with its side facing away from the temperature measurement elements and the heating element, at least in those areas where the temperature measuring elements and the heating element are disposed.

Heat transfer measurement device, in particular flow monitor

An automatic machine for mounting leadless components such as chip components onto a substrate. The components are delivered on belts wound onto belt reels having a substrate holder operating as a feed device in the longitudinal direction. The machine has a 'pick and place' device with a positioning unit and a mounting head, as well as a component delivery device for the components on the belt reels. The component delivery device has a holder unit for the belt reels, a belt guide having a plurality of belt guide tracks, a belt conveyor and a peel-off unit for peeling off the material covering the belts. The belt conveyor is a single unit. In each individual mounting operation, a separate belt is moved into the belt conveyor position specified by the belt conveyor unit.

Automatic component mounting machine

An electronic sensor of the contactless type has a free-running oscillator with internal positive feedback supplemented by an external negative feedback including a capacitive path whose impedance is normally high but is lowered in the presence of an object to be detected, thereby reducing the output signal of the oscillator from a normal amplitude above a predetermined level to a diminished amplitude below that level. The negative feedback is provided through an IGFET, e.g. of n-channel depletion type, with the aid of a capacitor bridging its source and gate electrodes to form with the external capacitance a voltage divider for the output signal of the oscillator.

Electronic proximity sensor

A contactless motion detector is energized in series with a load from a source of direct current via a pair of supply leads connected across a binary switching circuit in parallel with a voltage-generating network designed to deliver operating current to the detector in either switching position. The switching circuit comprises a main electronic switch, designed as a transistor, which is turned on or off by an output signal of the detector and in turn controls an ancillary electronic switch (transistor or thyristor) whose conduction intensifies the load current. When both electronic switches are transistors, they are interconnected in a positive-feedback loop driving them into conduction as soon as the main transistor is turned on; the base current of the ancillary transistor then contributes significantly to the load current while its collector current helps maintain the energization of the detector. The voltage-generating network includes a current limiter as well as a constant-voltage generator, e.g. a Zener diode.

Electronic monitoring system with direct-current power supply

A contactless motion detector responsive to the approach of a ferromagnetic element, including an oscillator with a sensing coil, has an output lead connected to one input of a first Exclusive-OR gate having another input connected to a square-wave generator whose pulses appear in the output of that gate with or without phase inversion depending on the output voltage of the motion detector. These pulses are fed, via an amplifier, to one input of a second Exclusive-OR gate whose other input receives the output pulses of the square-wave generator directly but with a delay compensating a lag introduced by the first gate and the amplifier. In the absence of a malfunction, the inputs of the second gate are energized either cophasally or antiphasally to produce either a low or a high output voltage of substantially constant magnitude fed to a load; in the event of a malfunction interrupting the pulse transmission to either input of this second gate, its output becomes a pulsating voltage. Such malfunction can further be indicated by an integrator connected in parallel with the second gate to the amplifier output. A conductor connecting the output of the square-wave generator to the corresponding input of the first gate is preferably led inside a housing around the motion detector, in front of its sensing coil, in order to let a damaging physical force aimed at the detector disrupt that conductor for giving rise to a malfunction indication.

Electronic monitoring system with malfunction indicator

A contactless motion detector is energized from a source of current via a pair of supply leads and delivers an output signal by way of a further lead through an Exclusive-OR gate to a control electrode of a binary electronic switch in circuit with the source and a load to modify the flow of load current upon the approach of a metallic element, for example. The Exclusive-OR gate, having one input connected to that further lead, has another input connected to an ancillary lead which in turn is connected to the other supply lead through a decoupling diode. A selector switch enables completion of the load circuit directly via the latter supply lead, thereby causing inverted transmission of the output signal of the detector to the control electrode, or by way of the ancillary lead to prevent the inversion of that output signal, whereby the load current can be either increased or reduced upon the occurrence of the event to be detected.

Electronic monitoring system with selective signal inversion

A contactless motion detector, specifically an oscillator whose signal amplitude is attenuated or enhanced by the approach of a monitored metallic element, is periodically switched for brief periods into its alternate state by a train of short test pulses giving rise to corresponding checking pulses that are superimposed upon the integrated output voltage of the oscillator whereby that voltage is intermittently increased when at low level and/or intermittently reduced when at high level. These checking pulses, whether of the voltage-increasing or the voltage-reducing kind, are integrated to provide an enabling signal allowing a controlled load to be energized or de-energized according to the mean value of the output voltage; an absence of the enabling signal indicates a malfunction.

Electrical components of an electronic switching device, such as a motion sensor of a monitoring system, are mounted on a dielectric carrier film covering opposite surfaces of a flat non-conductive support. The several components, disposed on the outer surfaces of the carrier film, are electrically interconnected by leads in the form of conductor strips on the inner film surfaces. A coil constituting such a component is embedded in a ferrite pot which is pasted onto an extension of the film and has a central pin with an end insertable into an aperture in an edge of the flat support after that extension is bent around the edge. The surfaces of the support may be pitted to provide recesses for an adhesive designed to bond that support to the film.

Mounting structure for components of electronic switching device

A signal detector of a contactless proximity sensor feeds three voltage comparators with reference inputs connected to points of different threshold potentials. When the incoming signal exceeds only the lowest threshold, a light-emitting diode is flashed at a low frequency; when the intermediate threshold is surpassed, the diode flashes at a higher frequency, whereas its light emission is continuous in the presence of a signal level above the highest threshold. Only in the last two instances will a load-control circuit be switched.

Contactless proximity sensor with multilevel response

A contactless motion detector, including an oscillator sensitive to an approaching metallic element, includes an electronic switch such as a thyristor triggerable by an output signal from a demodulator comprising a storage capacitor which is alternately chargeable and dischargeable, preferably with constant current, during each cycle of a high-frequency voltage generated by the oscillator. The oscillator voltage is compared with a reference voltage by means of a differential amplifier causing the flow of a charging current into the capacitor when the oscillator voltage exceeds the reference voltage whereas a discharging current flows out of that capacitor in the opposite case. The reference voltage is so chosen that the capacitor charge rises in the course of a few cycles above a predetermined threshold when the oscillator voltage is high but remains below that threshold when it is low.
