In one example, a sensor system of a patient monitoring system includes a voiding sensor that includes an electrical circuit configured to be transitioned from a first impedance state to a second impedance state in response to a voiding event in an absorbent region of an absorbent article worn by a patient. The sensor system also includes one or more processors configured to: determine, based on whether the impedance state of the electrical circuit is open or closed, that the voiding event has occurred; and generate, based at least in part on the occurrence of the voiding event, patient status data of the patient. The sensor system also includes a communication module configured to wirelessly transmit, via a relay module, the patient status data to a remote monitoring device that is distinct from the relay module.

Remote monitoring of absorbent article

An apparatus and method for delivering fluid from a syringe to a subject using a pumping device of a flow control apparatus. The method includes locating the flow control apparatus on a horizontal support surface. Providing the syringe with a volume of fluid including a total amount of preferred nutrient and an amount of non-preferred nutrient liquid. Mounting the syringe relative to the flow control apparatus whereby the syringe is oriented in a generally vertical orientation such that an outlet of the syringe faces upward. Initiating operation of the pumping device to draw the fluid from the syringe for a duration of time to preferentially deliver at least a portion of the total amount of preferred nutrient in the fluid to the subject.

A method for obtaining accurate skin temperature measurements includes displaying, on a display, a video image of a temperature measurement subject captured by a camera. The method further includes displaying, on the display, at least one visual alignment cue sized and positioned on the display such that when a predetermined portion of the video image of the subject is aligned with the at least one visual alignment cue, the subject is located at a predetermined distance and orientation for accurate skin temperature measurement by a contactless temperature sensor. The method further includes analyzing the video image of the subject and detecting when the predetermined portion of the video image of the subject is aligned with the at visual alignment cue. The method further includes triggering the contactless temperature sensor to record a skin temperature measurement of the subject when the predetermined portion of the video image of the subject is aligned with the at least one visual alignment cue.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for obtaining accurate skin temperature measurements

A catheter with an imaging assembly is disclosed. The catheter is used with a console for viewing and/or storing images obtained from the catheter. The catheter may be a feeding tube assembly. The imaging assembly on the feeding tube assembly allows a user to confirm placement of the feeding tube assembly in the patient's alimentary canal.

A method of performing a certification on an enteral feeding pump based on at least one operating parameter of the pump includes communicating certification information between the pump and a certification application remote from the pump. The at least one operating parameter is compared to a specified operating metric to verify that the at least one operating parameter of the pump is within the specified operating metric.

The cassette comprises a housing configured for releasable attachment to the pumping apparatus in an aligned position. A space defined within the housing is configured to receive a rotor of the pumping apparatus therein when the housing is in the aligned position. The space is free of fluid carrying conduits disposed for engaging the rotor. An identification member is positioned in the housing. The identification member is operable to induce an expected identification reader response when the identification reader is functioning properly. The cassette is arranged to operatively align the identification member with the identification reader when the housing is in the aligned position.

Wireless relay modules for networked communications between a medical device and a remote monitoring device via wireless relay networks and/or internet-accessible wireless communications networks. The wireless relay module includes a receiver, a first transmitter coupled to the wireless relay network, a second transmitter coupled to the internet-accessible wireless communication network, a controller and a display. The controller is coupled to the first and second transmitters, and controls the wireless relay module to select one of the transmitters for transmitting medical device data over one of the two respective networks. The controller generates an alarm signal and stores storing wirelessly-received medical device data in a memory of the wireless relay module upon detecting a changed characteristic for a power source of the wireless relay module. The controller also generates an alarm upon detecting a change in a characteristic of a signal transmitted by the medical device.

Wireless relay module for remote monitoring systems having power and medical device proximity monitoring functionality

A remote monitoring system for monitoring a plurality of medical devices at a patient care or home care facility. The system includes a device integration server in communication with wireless relay modules for receiving data packets from the medical devices including an identifier and data for each medical device. The system also includes a data management system and an outbound web server. The data management system is configured to log data for the medical devices. The web server is configured to provide webpages including the data of the medical devices for display on a remote monitoring computer, subject to authentication of an associated data request from the monitoring computer. The Web server is configurable to look up patient information from a secure source when user has appropriate permissions. In addition, the device integration server is configured to process alert messages received from the wireless relay modules and, in response, to transmit text message information to the wireless relay modules to be relayed to one or more text messaging recipients.

Remote monitoring systems for monitoring medical devices via wireless communication networks

A patient monitoring system for remote monitoring of medical devices. The system includes a medical device, a patient identification device and a wireless relay module. The relay module receives patient identification information from the patient identification device and medical device identification from the medical device via a wireless relay network, and transmits this information to the remote monitoring device via an internet-accessible wireless communications network. The remote monitoring device returns an acknowledgement status to the relay module, which the relay module transmits to the medical device. Upon receipt of an acknowledgment status indicating that the patient's use of the medical device is authorized, the medical device transmits medical device data to the relay module via the wireless relay network, and the relay module relays the medical device data to the remote monitoring device via the internet-accessible wireless communications network.
