A position measuring device including a code having a sequence of code elements of equal width B that is disposed in a measurement direction and includes a first property and a second property. The sequence of codes elements includes a first set of code elements having the first property and a second set of code elements having the second property, wherein the first and second sets of code elements are each being disposed aperiodically. The position measuring device further including a scanning unit having a plurality of detectors for scanning the code and obtaining scanning signals, wherein a code word defining an absolute position is defined from the scanning signals. The position measuring device including an arrangement for forming an incremental signal from the scanning signals, wherein the arrangement includes a converter device and a collection device arranged downstream of the converter device and wherein the collection device forms respective intermittently periodic partial signals from the scanning signals derived from scanning positions in a spacing matrix.

In a circuit configuration for ascertaining tilt errors in connection with a position-measuring device, the position-measuring device includes at least one incremental track on a measuring graduation that is able to be read by a scanner, which is movable relative to the measuring graduation in a measuring direction, and the scanner is guided along the measuring graduation and the scanner is rotated with respect to the measuring graduation by an angle of misalignment that is changeable during the relative movement. Perpendicular to the measuring direction, the scanner has a first scanning region and a second scanning region, whereby upon reading the at least one incremental track, at least one first position signal is able to be generated by the first scanning region and at least one second position signal is able to be generated by the second scanning region. The at least one first position signal and the at least one second position signal are supplied to an arithmetic unit in which, from the at least one first position signal and from the at least one second position signal, at least one tilt-error signal is able to be generated by addition and/or subtraction operations, the amplitude of the tilt-error signal being determined by an angle of tilt and being a measure for the angle of misalignment.

Circuit configuration and method for ascertaining tilt errors in connection with a position-measuring device

In the installation of a scanner of a position measuring apparatus, it is required that parameters such as amplitude and phase position of analog signals generated by a scanner be tested so that the scanner can be correctly installed. For this purpose, a control device with a display field is provided. In the display field, a bar is displayed whose width represents a measure for the range of variation of the radius and whose position represents a measure for the average radius of a Lissajous figure. In addition, a marking is displayed for the admissible range of variation of this radius.

In the installation of a position measuring device it is necessary that parameters such as amplitude and phase position of the analog scanning signals as well as the position of the reference mark signal are tested. In order to accomplish such testing, a control device is provided that has a display field for visually indicating these parameters. A first bar is displayed in the display field and its width represents a measure for the fluctuation range of the radius and its position represents a measure for the average radius of a Lissajous figure. In addition, a marking is displayed for permissible fluctuation in range of this radius. Furthermore, a second bar is displayed in the display field, which indicates the position of the reference mark signal in relation to the analog signals generated by the scanner.
