Techniques for manipulating URIs that have been rewritten for XmlHttpRequests (XHRs) and/or Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP). In one set of embodiments, a URI rewriter factory module is provided that is configured to determine and select a URI rewriter module based upon an input URI string. The input URI string may be, for example, in the form of a Javascript pseudo-protocol link, a remote proxy URI, or both. The selected URI rewriter module can then parse the input URI string to generate a URI object that has methods for manipulating the input URI string and for outputting the resulting manipulated URI as a string.

Graphical user interface navigation method

Application data used by enterprise applications running on one or more servers can be synchronized with application data deployed from other locations. Application data can be transmitted as XML files over HTTP to facilitate synchronization with web-enabled servers. Multiple service data repositories can be synchronized with application data residing in a master data repository that runs within an enterprise application. Server-to-server data synchronization functionality is also provided through the use of proxy data repositories. Application data files can be deployed from an author system to remote servers. Newly-authored application data files can be versioned in the author system using a source control system and selectively deployed to various servers by the author in conjunction with a multi-stage testing process in preparation for deployment of the application data to a production server.

A personalization system that uses rules to adjudicate and characterize a customer, or a customer's actions, and then to personalize a business function, such as a displayed page, based on the outcome of those rules. In one embodiment the invention provides a system for web-based personalization, that allows for personalizing the content or business functioning of a web-based application to reflect the characteristics of a particular user. The system comprises a user profiler, for determining a snapshot of a particular user of a web-based application, a rules editor for inputting a set of rules governing the business functioning of said web-based application, and a rules engine. The system then uses the set of rules to make decisions about the particular user and the business functioning of said web-based application, and to determine the content or business functioning of said web-based application as it applies to that user.
