A method for forming an oxygen resistant aluminum oxide layer on an outer surface of a thermocouple sheath composed of a nickel alloy containing between 1% to 7% aluminum comprises removing a pre-formed oxide layer from the outer surface so as to create a prepared sheath; performing a controlled oxidation by subjecting the prepared sheath to atmospheric conditions at a temperature between 1000&#xb0; C. and 1250&#xb0; C. so as to form the oxygen resistant layer on the thermocouple sheath and to thus form an oxidized sheath; and cooling the oxidized sheath so as to prepare the oxidized sheath for service.

Method for oxidising a thermocouple sheath

A method is disclosed for recovering the properties of single crystal and directionally solidified Nickel based superalloys and articles made thereof, after use in a high temperature environment. The method comprises the steps of a stress relief treatment, a &#x3b3;' rejuvenation heat treatment at a temperature below the &#x3b3;&#x2032;-solvus temperature (T) of the superalloy, a precipitation heat treatment and an aging heat treatment.

Property recovering method

The invention relates to a nickel-base superalloy for producing single-crystal components. The alloy according to the invention is characterized by the following chemical composition (details in % by weight): 7-13 Cr, 4-10 Co, 0.5-2 Mo, 2-8 W, 4-6 Ta, 3-6 Al, 1-4 Ti, 0.1-6 Ru, 0.01-0.5 Hf, 0.001-0.15 Si, 0-700 ppm C, 0-300 ppm B, remainder Ni and production-related impurities.

Method for the nondestructive quality testing of a thermocouple which can be used in particular at high temperatures and/or under high levels of vibration

In a method of brazing directionally solidified or monocrystalline components, the brazing deposit and the directionally solidified or monocrystalline component are moved through a heated zone. In this zone, the temperature applied by a heating system is greater than the liquidus temperature of the brazing alloy and less than the local incipient melting temperature of the component. A thermal gradient is applied between the component and the brazing deposit.

Method of brazing directionally solidified or monocrystalline components

The method serves to produce a material based on a doped intermetallic compound. In carrying out the method, at least two differently doped powders each based on the intermetallic compound are selected. One of the two powders predominantly has coarse-grained particles. On the other hand, another powder is formed from comparatively fine-grained particles composed of a material having a lower creep strength but a higher ductility than the material of the coarse-grained powder. The at least two powders are mixed with one another in a ratio serving to establish a desired mixed microstructure and then hot-compacted and heat-treated to form the material. Material produced by this method is suitable for components which are exposed to high mechanical loads at high temperatures, such as, in particular, gas-turbine blades or turbine wheels of turbo chargers.
