A multilayer shrink film having at least two barrier layers. The barrier layers including ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer with an ethylene content of between 27-50 mol %. The multilayer shrink film having a free shrink of at least 60%, 65% and 70% at 85 #C measured in accordance with ASTM D2732. The multilayer shrink film having an oxygen transmission rate of no more than: 5, 10, 15, or 20 cubic centimeters (at standard temperature and pressure) per square meter per day per 1 atmosphere of oxygen pressure differential measured at 0% relative humidity and 23 #C measured according to ASTM D-3985. The multilayer shrink film having a haze after shrink of less than 50 measured in accordance with ASTM D 1003.

Multilayer heat-shrinkable barrier film and packages made therefrom

A packaged product has a product surrounded by a vacuum skin package. The vacuum skin package has a support member and an implosion-resistant thermoplastic top web. The top web conforms with both the upper surface of the product, and an uncovered portion of the upper surface of the support member. The thermoplastic top web comprises an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer in an amount of from 55 wt % to 85 wt %, based on total weight of top web, and/or a blend of ethylene/α-olefin copolymer and cyclic olefin copolymer. Also disclosed is a vacuum skin package containing the implosion-resistant top web.

A multilayer film having a soluble tie layer and method for dissipating the soluble tie layer from the multilayer film is disclosed. The multilayer film having a first outer layer; a first soluble tie layer comprising at least 10 wt %, at least 40 wt %, or at least 50 wt % of a neutralized ethylene acrylic acid copolymer. The soluble tie layer dissipates from the multilayer film when placed in a caustic solution.

The present invention relates to packaging films, more specifically to cross-linked packaging films useful in vacuum skin packaging applications characterized by versatile sealing properties, especially by unexpected versatile sealability on polyester and on different substrates, to a method of packaging by using said films and to packages obtained therewith. Said packages show high drip retention, easy openability and good performance in microwave applications.

An alcoholic beverage is aged in a wooden barrel after the barrel is covered by a film having an oxygen transmission rate of at least 50 cc/m/day and an ethanol transmission rate of less than 30 g/m/day. The beverage acquires one or more specific flavor components in an amount of 50%, 75%, or 100% relative to amounts of one or more of the same flavor components in a control alcoholic beverage aged in a wooden barrel without the film thereon. Covering the barrel with the film reduces the angels' share evaporative loss, while allowing the beverage to develop desirable flavor components during aging. In another embodiment, the process reduces angels' share evaporative loss while achieving organoleptics indistinguishable from a control.

Process for reducing ethanol loss while developing desirable organoleptics during wooden barrel aging of alcoholic beverage

An alcoholic beverage is aged in at least one wooden barrel after the barrel is covered by a film having an oxygen transmission rate of at least 0.5 cc/m/day and an ethanol transmission rate of less than 30 g/m/day. The beverage acquires one or more specific flavor components in an amount of 50%, 75%, 90%, or 100% relative to amounts of one or more of the same flavor components in a control alcoholic beverage aged in at least one wooden barrel without the film thereon. The present invention provides a multilayer film for forming medical solution pouches that help prevent or reduce the presence of bubbles or foam in the solution after heat sterilization. In particular, the present invention provides a multilayer film for forming medical solution pouches that are capable of passing the bubble test as set forth in the Chinese State Drug Package Container Material Standard No. YBB00112005. In particular, the present invention provides a multilayer film in which polyamide 612 or calcium stearate component has been incorporated as an anti-foaming agent. The presence of polyamide 612 or calcium stearate in one or more layers of the film helps prevent the formation of foam in the solution after heat sterilization.

Multilayer film for medical solution pouches having reduced proficiency for forming bubbles

Some embodiments of the present invention provides a method of preparing a thermoformed article composed of polylactic acid that includes the steps of providing a foam sheet comprising polylactic acid having a D-lactic acid stereo-isomer content that is about 3 mole % or less, exposing the sheet to a temperature of at least about 190&#xb0; C., and forming the heated sheet in a mold at a mold temperature that is at least about 50&#xb0; C. and for a length of time to form a thermoformed article having a PLA crystalline content of at least about 10%. Surprisingly, it has been discovered that heat resistant thermoformed articles can be prepared in accordance with embodiments of the invention wherein the time required for forming the foam sheet into a molded article is less than about 10 seconds.

Process for preparing a heat resistant polylactic acid foamed article

The present invention is directed to a heat-shrinkable, thermoplastic film or bag which contains at least one homogeneous ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer having a density of at least 0.90 g/cc. Oriented films made in accordance with the present invention exhibit improved optics and improved impact resistance. A homogeneous ethylene alpha-olefin may be present in a monolayer film either alone or in a blend or may be included in one or more layers of a multilayer film in accordance with the present invention.

Heat shrinkable films containing single site catalyzed copolymers

The present invention is directed to a heat-shrinkable, thermoplastic film or bag which contains at least one homogeneous ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer with at least some limited long chain branching. Oriented films made in accordance with the present invention exhibit improved processability as well as improved physical properties such as excellent optics and impact resistance. A homogeneous ethylene alpha-olefin with long chain branching may be present in a monolayer film either alone or in a blend or may be included in one or more layers of a multilayer film in accordance with the present invention.

A heat-shrinkable film containing a homogeneous ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer has a high impact strength and a high free shrink. The film can be a monolayer film or multilayer film, with the homogeneous ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer present alone or in a blend, and in one or more film layers. The film is especially suited for use in heat-shrinkable bags, which can be used for the packaging of various products, especially meat.
