A refuse collection vehicle includes a grabber that is operable to engage a refuse container, a lift arm that is operable to lift a refuse container, at least one sensor that is arranged to collect data indicating an angular position of the grabber, at least one sensor that is arranged to collect data indicating a relative positioning of the lift arm, a first controller for adjusting the angular position of the grabber, and a second controller adjusting the relative positioning of the lift arm. The adjustment of the angular position of the grabber is coordinated with the adjustment of the relative positioning of the lift arm.

Refuse collection vehicle controls

A refuse collection vehicle includes a fork assembly that is operable to engage one or more fork pockets of a refuse container, a lift arm that is operable to lift a refuse container, and at least one sensor that is configured to collect data indicating a position of the one or more fork pockets of the refuse container. A position of at least one of the fork assembly or the lift arm is adjusted in response to the data collected by the at least one sensor.

Refuse collection vehicle positioning

Operating a refuse collection vehicle to collect refuse from a refuse container includes positioning a refuse collection vehicle with respect to a refuse container to be emptied, and manually engaging a switch to initiate a dump cycle to be performed by the refuse collection vehicle on the refuse container. The dump cycle includes engaging the refuse container with a portion of the vehicle, lifting the engaged refuse container to a dump position, and moving the refuse container to release contents of the refuse container into a hopper of the refuse collection vehicle. The dump cycle continues to completion as long as the switch remains manually engaged.

Elongated mounting strips are provided with a series of evenly spaced apart tile fasteners. The tile fasteners pivot from a storage or shipping position to an installation position where they engage and secure the top edges of cladding tile. Strips of weather resistant material are also mounted to the mounting strips at evenly spaced intervals. The weather resistant strips also pivot from a storage or shipping position to an installation position underlying a joint between a pair of adjacent cladding tiles.

Building cladding installation system

A slate and tile roofing system includes a base layer of compliant roofing material and a series of tile fasteners fixed along a top portion of the roofing material. A series of weather barrier strips is attached to the series of fasteners and fixed to the roofing material. A series of slate tiles is semi-permanently mounted over the weather barriers to form a prefabricated tile roofing subassembly. The subassembly expedites and facilitates the installation of slate and tile roofs without the need for highly specialized labor.

Prefabricated slate and tile roofing

A cantilevered leaf spring is biased against the upper edge of a roofing tile to prevent the tile from sliding upward beneath an overlying upper row of roofing tiles. The leaf spring can be formed as a part of a tile fastener which includes a hooked portion for receiving and holding the lower edge of a roofing tile on a roof. A series of tile fasteners is mounted to a layer of roofing material to facilitate installation of tiles without the need for installation tools. Damaged tiles can be easily replaced without the need for installation or removal tools. With this system, each row of underlying tiles is locked in place by the combined effect of an overlying and overlapping row of tiles and a spring awl on an upper fastener pushing the upper edge of a tile downwardly so that the lower edge of the tile is forced into the mouth of a lower fastener.

Roofing tile fastener and locking system

Lightweight tile roofs using a single overlap of tiles between adjacent tile courses are protected from wind, rain, snow, ice, humidity and sun with a base layer of water resistant weatherproofing material and with a series of waterproof or water resistant shield strips. The shield strips are laterally spaced apart so as to underlie the cracks, joints or channels formed between the adjacent side edges of each pair of juxtaposed tiles. This double layer of weatherproofing material extends the useful life of lightweight tile roofs.

Weather shielding system for slate and tile roofs

A roofing tile installation system includes spaced rows of installation strips each having an elongated base to which is attached a plurality of spaced apart hooks. The hooks are formed with a profile that engages and presses on underlying tiles and that grips and hooks around the lower edge of an overlying tile. Each tile is positioned and held laterally between a pair of hooks and held vertically on the slope of a roof by a single hook. An improved weatherproofing system includes a second layer of water resistive material which protects an underlying layer of plastic weatherproofing material against exposure to sunlight and erosion from wind and rain.
