Systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for automating the separation of a check and a stub attached to the check in a payment receiving and processing system. For example, one embodiment of the invention involves a computerized apparatus configured to receive a document image, locate a Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) line in the document image, and capture a check image by capturing a portion of the document image based at least partially on the location of the MICR line.

Electronic check and stub separation

In some embodiments, a method for processing a payment transaction comprises receiving, by a payor an invoice generated from a first enterprise resource planning (ERP) system operated by a payee. The first ERP system formatted the invoice in a first format. The invoice is stored in a second format compatible with a second ERP system. The invoice has been converted from the first format to the second format, which is different from the first format. Approval of the invoice is received through the second ERP system. Authorization instructing a financial institution to transmit a payment to the payee is generated and transmitted to the financial institution. Confirmation of the payment to the payee is generated and transmitted to the payee.

Processing payment transactions between enterprise resource planning systems

Apparatus and methods for providing electronic reassociation of data transmissions of checks and backup information. A method according to the invention may include scanning each check received by a lockbox service and scanning backup information related to correspondence included with each check. Thereafter, the method may include electronically associating each check with the backup information. The method may include generating a data transmission for each check and the associated backup information. Finally, the method may include storing the data transmission for each check and the associated backup information at a periodic interval. Such an interval may be determined, at least in part, by the deposit cut-off time of a financial institution.

Electronic reassociation

Systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for integrating a mail receiving process with a payment processing system. Embodiments of the invention include a capture device configured to: (1) receive a plurality of payment-related mail items comprising a plurality of envelopes containing one or more items; (2) scan the plurality of envelopes and the items to obtain data about each of the plurality of payment-related mail items; (3) identify one or more exception situations regarding one or more payment-related mail items; (4) associate an exception indicator with the data obtained about the one or more payment-related mail items, wherein the exception indicator provides an indication as to an exception type selected from a plurality of exception types; and (5) communicate the data and the one or more exception indicators to a payment processing system. The payment processing system is configured to recognize the exception indicators and process the associated data based on the exception indicators.
