An article is formed in a mold having a mold cavity, has a periphery, and defines a score line having a tensile heal strength of less than 200 ppi along the score line. The article includes a cured urethane composition including the reaction product of an isocyanate component and a resin composition. The cured urethane composition is used in a method of forming the article. The method includes the steps of determining a theoretical tensile heal strength along the score line and applying the isocyanate component into the mold cavity in response to the determining of the theoretical tensile heal strength. The method also includes the steps of applying the resin composition into the mold cavity, reacting the isocyanate component and the resin composition to form a urethane composition, curing the urethane composition, and de-molding the article from the mold cavity.

Article and method of producing same

An elastomeric urethane composition that is the reaction product of an isocyanate and resin comprising polyetherol in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst includes a metal selected from the group of titanium, zirconium, and hafnium. The elastomeric urethane is used in a method of making an article, which comprises reacting the isocyanate with the resin in the presence of the catalyst to form the elastomeric urethane, applying the elastomeric urethane to a mold cavity, and allowing it to cure to form a first layer. The method also includes applying a different urethane composition to the mold to form a second layer. The method further includes curing the article in the mold and de-molding the article.

Elastomeric urethane composition

The subject invention provides a composition and a process for forming a flexible polyurethane foam sealing device having improved compression set properties at increased temperatures. The sealing device is formed without the use of chemical blowing agents. The composition includes an isocyanate component for reaction with a resin component comprising an isocyanate-reactive component having a functionality of least four and a hydroxyl number of less than 40, a graft dispersion, and a physical blowing agent. The most preferred physical blowing agent is HFC-245 fa or 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane.
