An electronic parking meter system is used with parking enforcement personnel and a plurality of parking meters. The system may include parking meter units associated with a respective parking meter, a data unit for gathering data from the parking meter units, a first communication link for transmitting data between the parking meter units and the data unit, at least one parking enforcement unit associated with the parking enforcement personnel, and a second communication link for transmitting data between the data unit and the parking enforcement unit. The first communication link may be a unidirectional link, allowing the meter units to include a transmitter and be free of a receiver circuit or receiving functionality. In this manner, the meter units may be made relatively inexpensive, thus significantly reducing the overall cost of the system when connected with many meters.

Parking meter control dispatch and information system and method

A multi-function laparoscopic instrument with an end effector assembly including at least first and second movable members, a first actuator coupled to the first movable member, a second actuator coupled to the second movable member, and a handle assembly. The handle assembly includes a drive mechanism, at least one movable trigger pivotably connected with the drive mechanism, and a switching mechanism coupled to the drive mechanism and having at least two positions, a first position in which the drive mechanism is engaged with the first actuator to operate the first movable member when the movable trigger is activated and, a second position in which the drive mechanism is engaged with the second actuator to operate the second movable member when the movable trigger is activated.

Surgical instrument

A surgical instrument including a handle assembly; a shaft connected on one end to the handle assembly; and an end assembly extending from the other end of the shaft. The end assembly is constructed to include a fixed member including on one portion thereof a fixed scissor blade and on another portion thereof a fixed forcep jaw. The end assembly also includes a pivotable scissor blade for cutting tissue between the fixed scissor blade and the pivotable scissor blade and a pivotable forcep jaw for grasping tissue between the fixed forcep jaw and the pivotable forcep jaw.

A laparoscopy cannula reducer has at its proximal end a resilient end seal carrying a resilient tri-cuspid valve; the valve is passive, yet allows sealing of a body cavity in surgical procedures to prevent fluid flow between the atmosphere and the body cavity, both when an instrument is carried within the cannula and when the cannula is not being used for passage of an instrument to the body and the reducer has handgripping portions for applying and disengaging the reducer over a laparoscopy cannula.

Cannula reducer

A laparoscopic cannula having at its proximal end a resilient end seal carrying a resilient tri-cuspid valve. The valve is passive, yet allows sealing of a body cavity in surgical procedures to prevent fluid flow between the atmosphere and the body cavity, both when an instrument is carried within the cannula and when the cannula is not being used for passage of an instrument to the body.

Endoscopic cannula with tricuspid leaf valve

A trilateral gutter guard includes first and second angled legs adapted to rest at different locations on a gutter bottom. A substantially horizontal leg is coupled to the top of the first and second legs, the three legs each comprising a mesh. Preferably, the horizontal leg is positioned and dimensioned to allow self-cleaning of the gutter guard by natural forces.
